JT Marcinkowski was unbelievable tonight for Reno 1868 against Las Vegas. Amazing reaction type saves. Earned his team a point. Very impressed watching him live. The SAVE of the match that helped us escape with 1⃣ point! Have a match @JT_Marcinkowski!#AllForOurCity pic.twitter.com/Lel0wtEQMt— SK Holdings (@SKholdings_) March 25, 2018
Another angle. This save from @JT_Marcinkowski is RIDICULOUS. Saved the draw for @Reno1868FC on the last touch. Not bad for a 20-year-old. pic.twitter.com/Mjp04prVLQ— Zac Pacleb (@ZacPacleb) March 25, 2018
ATL2 won 3-1 at home in their inaugural match against RBII. They had over 5K in attendance, so hopefully they can draw some decent crowds. They played a more senior team with ATL off this week and a number of players off with the Youth Teams. For instance Mikey Ambrose played LB, but long-term that spot is going to be Jose Hernandez and George Bello. Chris Goslin was also with the USYNT. Miles Robinson played well according to reports. Lagos Kunga - "It was not a great night for the homegrown. Kunga rarely contributed to the attack and turned the ball over on a few occasions. That’s fine though. If he has to do that on any stage, let it be this one. That’s one of the reasons AU2 is really beneficial. Younger players can make mistakes against other professionals in a setting where the downside of those mistakes pale in comparison to the first team."
Yeah it was good game. It'll be interesting what happens over the course of the season with the wing positions. Carranza looked really good off the bench when he replaced, a slightly overage for this thread, john gallagher who scored 2 goals in the game. While Kunga wasn't as good, I hope he continues to start with Carranza integrating with the team. I could also see Kissiedou being put on the bench and one of Kunga or Carranza playing the second striker? Robinson did look good when dealing with crosses and organizing the backline, but he was susceptible to being a step too slow to reading runs in behind the defense. His distribution looked pretty solid too. Regardless, they will be a fun team to watch for sure and a fun atmosphere to boot.
Ben Mines having himself a game. Drew a penalty, was apart of the buildup for another goal, and scored a goal himself. Moreno with a brace.
Professional debut tonight for #ATLUTD homegrown George Bello on the road in Charlotte. U19 captain Will Crain makes the (short) bench #ATLUTD https://t.co/8JF8aKlLCi— ATLUTD Prospects (@ATLUTDprospects) March 31, 2018
Carranza and Kunga are both also starting. Crain is very under the radar. One of the best CB's in the '00 birth year, IMO. His play is reminiscent of Besler. He got one call up to the U-17's at the end of last cycle, but that was it, and he hasn't been called back since, although he should. Really smart player who is mobile, good on the ball and can organize a back line. Competent enough aerially, as well. He'd be a good Atlanta II signing.
Bello helps initiate a counter and then scores. Up 1-0 The Homegrown with his first professional goal 👌 pic.twitter.com/pqF49btq4n— ATL UTD 2 (@atlutd2) March 31, 2018
The Homegrown Show.@LAGOSKUNGA takes it himself to record his first-ever professional goal. pic.twitter.com/Y7Nr6xJOPc— ATL UTD 2 (@atlutd2) April 1, 2018 Kunga scored this wonder goal as well. He plays like a straight up street baller and I love it. He really bounced back today after a quiet game last week.
He's signed a LOI with Brown so we might not see him signed to a pro deal for a while. Been a long time since an Ivy Leaguer left school early for MLS, let alone USL.
Wow very surprised this hasn't been posted yet, but Busio had an assist in his first USL start. Here it is Smooth turn by @gbusio10 and nice job to pick his head up and find Blackwood for @SwopeRangers opening goal. pic.twitter.com/XLGe4xNxdB— Jonathan Kaplan (@happykappy7) April 5, 2018
Since the USL season has started, I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread. Here's the in-season thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/yn...on-pro-players-2018-in-season-thread.2081892/
