Paxton Pomykal vs Bayern Munich II all touches. https://t.co/8ayO5JuLBE (not made by me)— 3rd Degree (@3rdDegreeNet) February 11, 2019 1095087825421242369 is not a valid tweet id By the way, Brian mentions in the comments that Carleton's uphill climb to the U20WC team has mostly due to with the competition, such as Nick Taitague. That very well might be the case.
It’s about being blackballed. Carleton has played more first team minutes than any attacker in contention for the team except Pomykal, considering Amon and Weah are unlikely to be released. He’s also a better player than those who would make the team in attack. Ramos was trying to get him released for the second stage of qualifying, but couldn’t. He’s not changing out players who helped the team be undefeated in the first stage to bring in a back up.
Nice to see an owner this in tune with his club’s academy. How will the @PhilaUnion play in 2019?"It’s kind of this power press, or I was calling it a hunter-killer.”https://t.co/cw98iP0NVo— Andrew Wiebe (@andrew_wiebe) February 12, 2019
I would love for DC United to do the same, but DC are probably a couple of years away. Once they have finished Audi Field, their training facility and their reserve team stadium, it will start to dawn on them that they won’t be sustainable financially until they consistently develop their own players and that means that they need to focus on improving their pay to play academy. At the moment, in comparison to other academies, they are clearly behind. Sometimes you just have to let people go through their own journey. At least DC are investing in their franchise and trying to strengthen it. After many stagnant years without a viable stadium, they are really trying to push the franchise forward. Good for Philly though.
All touches: Brandon Servania vs Bayern (30 min) and San Antonio FC (45 min) https://t.co/5gcQwV8CXC Damn do I love this video; so calm, cool, and collected in the middle. Controlling the center, dictating pace... fantastic player.— 3rd Degree (@3rdDegreeNet) February 12, 2019 By the way, in other FCD news...............GenAd Francis Atuahene just ruptured a pec muscle. Ouch. He's going to be out for a long time. He's a forward/winger, so he was direct competition for Jesus Ferreira.
NYCFC talking the talk............................. Everyone moving from retirement league to young players. Reyna: Sands, Lewis "here to play" as NYCFC shift away from veteran stars #MLS https://t.co/dMGMqzZeGB— 3rd Degree (@3rdDegreeNet) February 12, 2019
They just need to get the USL team running by next season or they’ll enter the territory that Dallas was in prior to this year.
Not that I've heard. Asked some kind of front office type Saturday and he said not yet and had no more details so I'm guessing he'd only know if it became public. No more government closed excuse. Back to the government is slow excuse.
We are getting really close to when Ramos needs to really nail down his U20 roster, though. Only a couple of months...………………… So we're starting to get into crunch time on this one. I wasn't sure his spot was assured in the first place. So this is a bubble guy that may not be available. Its gonna have to happen FAST.
Watched both FC Dallas players. Paxton looks in line to get a lot of minutes this season. The other two look like they might need another year, or at least a half. If Carleton doesn’t pan out as well as we’re hoping for this season, then hopefully Paxton does. We really don’t have a solid #10.
I'll do a depth chart analysis and minutes prediction as we get closer to the start of the season. I think Servania is actually set up for quite a bit of playing time. He appears to be the backup #6, and Grueso may be gone on national team duty quite a bit. As of right now Pomykal looks set for significant playing time, however there's also a lot more competition in his role. Hopefully that pushes him to really play well and win that starting job full-time. But if after the first 10 games or so he's not been impactful, his spot could be taken by Jacori Hayes or Aranguiz. And that's fine. In Europe kids also have a tough competition for playing time. You have to play well to stay there. All we can ask for is that its a fair competition. Worth noting that FCD is playing more of a 4-3-3, and in that formation Pax looks to be playing more of a #8 role. We've talked about this ad naseum, but that might actually suit him more than a #10 in the traditional sense. He'll play next to somebody like Bryan Acosta or Jacori Hayes. In theory he'd play more advanced than his partner, but that wasn't in fact the case in their friendly this past weekend. Hayes was more advanced than Pax.
Good read about Busio: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...s-why-not-me-asks-sporting-kcs-gianluca-busio Basically striving to repeat what Tyler Adams has accomplished.
If Busio, Kuzain and Lindsey can each get 1,000 minutes or more from SKC this year, that would be great.
I’m told the #LAGalaxy have signed Julian Araujo to a first-team contract. The #USMNT U-20 defender is definitely one to watch in 2019 as the Galaxy look to give their young talent more opportunities. #MLS— Ives Galarcep (@SoccerByIves) February 13, 2019
Check out @JREskilson’s Tweet: Despite some reports suggesting otherwise, I've been told Julian Araujo has not signed a Homegrown deal with LA Galaxy/MLS yet. Sides remain in contact.— J.R. Eskilson (@JREskilson) February 13, 2019
Carleton was subbed into the Atlanta United scrimmage against LA Galaxy today 20 minutes in after Martinez was injured. The reason this is notable is because Villalba was on the bench. De Boer instead subbed in Carleton. I don't know if this means much. Its a preseason game, but it could be indicative of Carleton's place on the first team depth chart. Atlanta was starting their first XI. Bello didn't start this game, but started the last one. He's rotated with Shea all preseason at LWB. From the reports (and the game that was televised), it doesn't appear like Bello's had the best preseason. Although, that hardly means much, and he should still get a lot of minutes this season. Miles Robinson appears to be a starter in Atlanta's back 3.
Any idea how he and Robinson did? Can’t wait until these closed door preseason games stop for ATL. Hopefully the SKC Houston game shows more about what happened for players like Busio, Lindsey, and Kuzain than the ATL game.
SKC vs Houston was on links thru Twitter. Didn’t watch, but looks like none of the 3 HGs we’re hoping to see get minutes were starting. SEA vs POR also on Twitter. Looks like Bwana scored. Do we know what Bwana’s citizenship timeline looks like? Danny Leyva and Wingo getting starts as well. Not sure who Portland’s HGs are, but didn’t bother since they probably won’t play them. I know Farfan is probably their top HG even though he’s stated he wants to play for Mexico.
SKC and Houston B teams played another match simultaneously that wasn't streamed which Busio, Lindsey, Kuzain, and Freeman started and it ended 1-1. I watched the Seattle vs Portland game and Farfan and Ebobisse got minutes for Portland. Ebo scored as a sub in the 2nd half. Pretty much all the Sounders youngsters played except for AOC which is probably because of the brutal foul he had the other day. The sounders youngsters did good but was very impressed with Diaz, Serrano, Gonzalez, Robles and Leyva (the 15 year old started and played 90 minutes, kid was absolutley spraying the ball all over the pitch he was a joy to watch).
Cerrillo signs. https://www.fcdallas.com/post/2019/02/14/fc-dallas-signs-24th-homegrown-player-edwin-cerrillo
Check out @Edwincerrillo’s Tweet: Beyond blessed to announce I’ve officially signed my first professional contract with @fcdallas. It’s been a journey for sure but it’s all just getting started. Special thanks to God, My Family, and everyone who’s been a part of this process. #octagonfamily pic.twitter.com/bnRbWy0Cr6— Edwin (@Edwincerrillo) February 14, 2019
My prediction is that Servania will be the best pro out of all the younger FCD homegrowns. Doesn't necessarily have the flash of the others, but he flat out knows how to play the game.
Important to note that this seems like an FCD first team contract and not a North Texas contract. 24th homegrown, but 31st academy player that's gone on to sign a professional contract. Interesting, he was a winger until very recently. I never really thought of him as a potential homegrown signing. Then he moved to the middle and his stock has kept rising and rising and rising. 📰 FC Dallas signs @Edwincerrillo, who becomes the first @FCDallasYouth Academy product signed under new head coach Luchi Gonzalez.https://t.co/eTMFtZCN9v— FC Dallas (@FCDallas) February 14, 2019
