Didn't watch. Due to the weather I decided not to drive over from Fort Worth. Hunkered down at the hotel bar...………………... I think @Pegasus went to the FCD game. Maybe he stayed for NTSC?
I did go to the game and watched about 40 minutes of the NTSC game. Dallas bossed about 2/3's of their game but I somehow didn't realize that Valeri didn't start. Once he was in it changed things (as it should). Pomykol and Ferreira looked great and Ferreira really should have scored more than his one and I think as he gets more comfortable he will. Pax looks very comfortable and the difference between him and other young attacking prospects is his defence. he starts a lot of breaks with key steals and taps to other teammates. NTSC plays very similarly than FCD but dang that weather was nasty. Rainy, gusty and although not freezing (maybe 45ish by the end of the game) the wind was cold, cold cut through your bones cold and after a relatively warm week it was hard to deal with. Luckily today and rest of the week it will be warmer for Dallas Cup / MLS GA Championship except for some rain Wednesday. I ran into Spiderman Cory Gibbs between games in the club and asked him about the LAG shenanigans and whether he would ever let one of his clients sign for 12K a year. A smiling no comment was the answer. Jeff Cassar was there and I think Nat Borchers although sometimes it's hard to tell one mountainman from another.
Agree with everything you said except the correlation of goslin not playing and the team looking better. I think it's more the coaching they have this year. Scott Donnelly was a great guy, but I could never tell what the team tactics were besides get the ball to Carleton and hope he does things or kick long balls. With Stephen Glass, Vint is a big part of the distribution and the team looks more organized. Now I don't think Goslin can do what Vint is doing, but I'd like to see them together in the midfield because I think their skillsets can complement each other a bit. Also, I always come away pretty impressed with George Campbell. He is physically a good CB and seems to have above average range in his passing. The defense looks a lot better this year and I think its partially the organization that I mentioned above and partially the Decas/Campbell playing.

Not an American, but I found it interesting that current England U19, 2017 U17 WC-winning GK Curtis Anderson started tonight for Charlotte in USL-C. Was previously with Manchester City's academy. Former U17 teammate of Foden, Sancho, Hudson-Odoi. Line up for #CLTvBST. pic.twitter.com/qo9fCDPCuN— Charlotte Independence (@Independence) April 16, 2019
Forgot to mention for the Switchbacks that they had a couple 2021 U20-eligibles on the bench for the Reno match: '01 GK Rhone Ellis, '01 mid Logan Hitzeman. (Both Switchbacks keepers were teenagers.) With them, Hundley, and USL-C Player of the Week Rodriguez, Colorado Springs are a low-key interesting side to monitor from a YNT perspective.

Zyen Jones is back stateside: Independence sign U-20 #USMNT forward Zyen Jones.— Charlotte Independence (@Independence) April 19, 2019 Edit: I was just looking the Independence's roster and they have a lot of youngsters with Jones now, Mark Hill(Scottish YNT), Curtis Anderson (England YNT), and two under 21 Congolese internationals. Interesting development
Good move for Zyen. Wasn’t going to be good enough for a Schalke and probably isn’t good enough for consistent MLS minutes just yet.
For those of you with Athletic subscriptions.……………………… If you're the kind of person who sees the phrase "1200 words from @WillParchman on four of the #USL's uber-talented teens who have yet to sign #MLS contracts" and get a twitchy index finger, this is for you:https://t.co/NmavUazCfF— The Athletic Soccer (@TheAthleticSCCR) April 19, 2019

Great job on this! This list, along with similar listings of our youngsters breaking into ever-better MLS and European squads, is why I'm incredibly bullish on the future of our national team. Ten years ago the majority of our most talented kids would be playing youth ball or in college programs. As a group, this generation is better and more empowered than ever before - and we had a respectable national team under the old, sub-optimal developmental network. I fully expect the improvement to become more and more noticeable at the senior level in the coming years.
Manny Perez went 90, had a good game, and picked up an assist. As I get to see him more and more, though, one thing is obvious: he has no left foot. I worry that is going to limit his ceiling to MLS contributor.
Carleton had a very nice secondary assist by dummying the ball to eliminate a few defenders while the other team was pressing Atlanta playing out of the back. He had a bunch of nice through balls during the game, as well. He could've also scored in stoppage time, but mishit a shot. He had a another good game. Not as good as his prior two games where he was MOTM, but a good performance. He's been very good this season in USL, so I hope we stop hearing about what some tried to state last season.
