USL playing time, by position. I've included players with zero minutes if they've made the 18 or are on a USL contract. I wasn't 100% sure of the specific position of some academy players. I generally put the question mark midfielders in CM because it's the US - they are either CMs or will eventually be moved to CM once they can't hack it at AM. GK J.T. Here's some great news from an underexploited market. It'll be interesting to see if El Paso USL is able to develop young talent. MLS clubs are certainly in the market already mining for youngsters with potential. He's coming home! ATL2 plays Charlotte, who is starting Rapids homegrown Sam Vines, who I think is the best '99 left back and should start for the U20 team in qualifying, and possibly even the U20 WC.
Will Crain, Jackson Conway, Chad Letts, and Jose Carranza on the bench as well. With Garces starting, ATL2 have played 10 academy players this year. I think Garces has a good shot to get more playing time too. Christensen has looked poor when I've seen him. However, once Hildebrandt is back to full health, Garces might just be a backup.

Garces: Made some nice saves. Nothing too difficult. Not at fault for the one goal given up. Distributed the ball well. Certainly belonged. Goslin: He has the right ideas. He doesn't try to play extremely negative. You can tell he's a high pedigree player because of some of the things he tries to do. Not just USL journeyman kick and chase, but there are still some errors. Bad giveaways right near his own goal, he telegraphs his passes way too much, and he's not a particularly good athlete for a #6. I like how he tries to play more than most players in USL though. He won't be in this level for that much longer. Samuel: This guy is American? He's not very good. Waste of a spot in the lineup. I hate to be harsh, but he does nothing other than win 2-3 headers per game, and run. This Atlanta 2 team is not good, but I gotta blame the coach some. He has better players at his disposal, and continues to use some guys who don't even belong in USL. Carleton: At this point, its just a joke how bad the attackers around him are. He should've had 2-3 assists minimum in this match. Sandoval missed two headers from sitter range, one wide and one off the post. Kissideou took a bad touch when he was played in for what should've been an easy far post finish. Carleton's stats would look a lot better in these USL games with better teammates. Played well again. Stat watchers will claim he's struggling. He's doing his job, and really should not be playing at this level. Carranza: He barely played. Had some nice touches. Nothing very influential.
Should be noted that this was Justin's first pro game. Big night between the pipes for @_jgarx_ !Congrats on your 1st start and debut for @atlutd2 👊 pic.twitter.com/n1uE9RyY4W— ATLUTD Academy (@AcademyATLUTD) June 14, 2018
He's a 2000, and about a year and a half younger than Eric Lopez. Not the youngest domestic keeper in the USYNT pool to make his debut, right? David Ochoa of the Real Monarchs is a 2001. He was at the recent U20 camp if I remember correctly.
I have no clue why Garces has not been playing for the U-20's. It makes almost no sense to me. You are going to try to tell me guys like Ochoa, Stiebel, Dos Santos, Ejimadu, Marks are better? Insulting, as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah ATL2 is playing pretty poorly lately. They started off the season as a good team, but I think Donnelly hasn't done a great job as a coach, I also think this team misses Bello as a attacking option. Jose Hernandez is a Venezuelan international and I figured he would be better than Bello, but Bello just attacked more aggressively and forces defenses to make mistakes. Hernandez doesn't. I also think Lagos Kunga was a great dribbling option at the beginning of the year, but he has lost some edge seemingly. Yosef Samuel is a very up and down player. I think he is better when he plays striker because he makes some good runs, but as a winger he doesn't have good service and isn't very good in the buildup. I still think the talent is there for this to be a better team than what we see though. I also thought that was Carleton's best USL game this year.
I think they have a number of younger players who belong. I think Garces should be starting in goal, Crain at CB, Bello at LB, Asensio and Goslin CM pairing, Carranza somewhere in the attacking third. We'll have to see about McGann, MacDonald, Vixamar, Lopez, Castro, Candela-Perez, Suzuki, Brighton. Those are players who probably get their debut sometime later this year or next year. Edwards is an absolute disaster in USL. Can't play him, otherwise you are going to give up goals. Conway looks more like a product of the Atlanta United youth system than a talented striker. Don't think he's good enough. Negative football IQ's and passing ability for Kunga and Kissiedou. They don't really belong. They hurt their team's ability to possess and combine when they are on the field. Samuel adds nothing, IMO. They need to supplement that with some better veterans. This Cochrane guy is one of the worst USL players I've seen play all season. I'm not sure what he's good at. Nicklaw looks like a Sunday league player. He's out of shape, he doesn't understand positioning, he has no athleticism and no technical ability. Kendall-Moulin's game is riddled with errors. Metcalf is not terrible, but he bullies the younger players who are better set-piece takers into letting him take them and thats a detriment to his team. Sandoval can hold the ball up, and thats about it. Gallagher scores some goals, and thats about it, although thats better than most players on the team. Shannon isn't terrible in a defensive midfield role. I think the keeper Caraux isn't bad either.
1007691432868614144 is not a valid tweet id Here are highlights of George Bello's 3 USL games. Through watching this it seems like he did a lot more attacking than defending. I really like his movement as an attacker and he can make a vital tackle when needed.

Carleton forces an own goal in the opening minutes. He's looked very lively on the left. He's grown into the pro game.
16-yr-old Ethan Bryant made his first USL appearance -- a start -- for San Antonio tonight. Got the game-winning assist in a 1-0 victory over Sacramento Republic by pouncing on a poor touch and hitting a good ball over the top. pic.twitter.com/IMB8TuuH2U— scuffed (@scuffedpod) June 17, 2018
