It's been a bad year for colleges trying to get new players. In total 42 players from the class of 2016 have turned pro. http://www.socceramerica.com/article/72051/us-abroad-young-signs-with-werder-bremen.html
From that SA list, as far as I know Terrell Lowe is still at UVa. Had a strong freshman season and I've seen nothing of him turning pro yet. That said, I fully expect him to leave school early. When, not if. And when could be the next few weeks.
I think that might depend on when the rule goes into effect that MLS teams can have two extra homegrown spots on the roster, which as far as I know has yet to happen. I can't imagine Portland wanting him on the 28-man roster, but perhaps those two extra spots might make a difference. Of course, he could look at a team abroad. Lowe showed nothing at T2 that would make me think he was worthy of a first-team contract at this time. In fact, of the three academy kids they had playing for T2 last season, he was easily the least impactful.
Also, is there an official announcement regarding Albelo? I know he signed an academy deal with Swope Park in 2016, but I hadn't seen any news of a pro deal.
Its national signing day! The number of FCD kids (both and girls combined) that committed to collegiate soccer programs ended up at 84. http://www.fcdallas.com/chasesigningnight2017 Names of interest from the academy programs: Luis Carillo: Colombia Aldo Quevedo: Yale Jacob Goyen: Ohio State Mark Salas: North Carolina Brandon Servania: Wake Forest Brandon Terwege: UCLA (this is an odd one; I thought he had committed to Cal Poly?)
Forget to mention this - @PhilaUnionYouth forward Justin McMaster committed to @WakeMSoccer for this year.— Travis Clark (@travismclark) February 1, 2017

FCD has become a powerhouse with both the boys and girls academies. 92 seniors from Frisco academy alone committed to play college soccer (this is on top of those that have signed pro deals with FCD). The girls academy at FCD has gotten to the ridiculous stage..................................... We love celebrating all 92 of our senior commits on @Chase Signing Night! Congrats to all our players and families. #DTID pic.twitter.com/xnp2cnT64e— FC Dallas (@FCDallas) February 9, 2017

A 2017 that's a 1999 that I haven't found any pro affiliation or NCAA commitment for is former USYNTer (most recently Mexican YNTer) from FCD...................Carlos Avilez. One would probably consider him in the upper echelon of goalkeeping recruits if he goes the NCAA route. I'd love if an "insider" could tell me what's going on there. The guy Avilez beat out for the starting U18 job at FCD, David Abonce (now of Solar), committed to Ohio State. So...............
