Went to bed early last night. Here are yesterday's results that are relevant to this thread.

Radford gets its first win, beating a pretty good West Virginia team.

In a battle of winless sides, Hartford and Central Connecticut both blew a golden chance for their first W by playing to a 1-1 draw.

Wake stays perfect by beating Davidson and Wright State stays undefeated with a win over Duquesne.

Xavier, which had been the least-impressive undefeated team with four ties, finally buckles, falling to Notre Dame.

Presbyterian stays winless, losing to Mercer.

There are still nine unbeaten teams and six without a win.

What makes it all the more frustrating is that the VMI women's soccer squad is 6-1-1 playing only Division 1 schools. At VMI male cadets outnumber female cadets 8 to 1. VMI has the smallest student population of any Division 1 school, 1700. And the women's team has to deal with all the minuses that Sandon Mibut posted earlier. Yet, somehow, they manage to win.

VMI doesn't get a win but they do get their first non-loss, tying Howard. Incarnate Word stays winless, losing to Utah Valley.

    A win with an asterisk*?

Interestingly, VMI is not the worst team on the list, but it's close enough that the bottom team played that team to a draw.

In a battle of unbeaten teams, Virginia topped Wright State to keep one team on the list and take another off it.

Wake Forest (UNC Greensboro), Denver (Creighton) and Missouri State (Western Illinois) also stayed unbeaten with wins.

And plucky VMI got its first win over non-NCAA Regent! Yes, it's not a D-I win but I'm taking them off the list anyway.

We're down to 7 unbeatens and two winless teams.

I did not know St Mary. Is it a usually good team? Is it a surprise to see them unbeaten?
Any tips about their historical results?

It is definitely a surprise. They have the occasional good season - they had a surprise run to the NCAA quarterfinals in 2011 but that was just their second NCAA Tournament appearance this century and they haven't been back since, though they did have winning records in 2012 and 2014.

But they were .500 the past two years so this is basically going against their recent form.

    https://smcgaels.com/documents/2018/6/6/RecordBook2017.pdf

That said, if you get the right mix of experience, skill and luck, you can go on a run like this, regardless of your past record.

As usual, nothing to add to Sandon's info.

St Mary's has an unique little stadium in the foothills on the east (and north, is it called NE bay, probably not). There is a large hill (or mini-mountain) just on the far side of the field. To get to St Mary's you need to drive up these winding country roads and you're less than 30 miles from Oakland.

St. Mary's thumped a good Pacific team to stay perfect. They might be the real deal.

    And then there were three.

For the third time in seven days, a game involving Virginia saw an unbeaten tema fall. Tuesday, the Cavs gave Wright State its first loss and Friday Duke upset UVa to know them from the unbeaten ranks. Tonight, it was Denver that went down, and went down hard, losing to Virginia 3-0.

Here's the updated list. RPIs are pending the rest of Monday's games.

(Interestingly, Saint Mary's and Portland are both in the West Coast conference and face each other November 10, in the last game of the regular season. Could be a fascinating game if both teams are still unbeaten.)
