haha - I've seen dudes break bottles over their own heads before, and clueless foreigners getting harassed. so, yeah
He's gonna get beat in the air by Rashford 10 times out of 10. He could've done better on the Martial contest....but he was in a bad spot against Rashford, not much he could do there
Lol and he just beat Lukaku in the air which is hilarious. But yeah he's going to lose most head battles period unfortunately.
Ibra is an artist. He's always trying to create beauty. Not exactly effective at this point, but it makes for a great highlight reel. The whole Newcastle defense (Yedlin included) looks like a liability.
I think Yedlin has looked good. The Manchester players definitely have a height advantage. Although he had a flying defensive header out of the box that looked super athletic.
He's looked good going forward. That sort of compensates (for the fans, at least) for the crappy defending. The other defenders, in particular the other fullback, Manquillo, also sucked defensively but, unlike DeAndre, added nothing to the attack.
Systematic failures. Midfield over run, the back line unable to do basic marking. Even if Yedlin was the greatest defensive fullback in history he'd look terrible today. I think other than getting manhandled in the air he's fine defensively
There's a reason why out-of-their-comfort-zone Klinsi tried him as a winger. Yedlin's defending is just not good enough when facing top teams.
didn't watch the match, but 4-1 seems like a predictable result. As always, I assume yedlin ran really fast but didn't do much good or bad. Am i right?
He had an awesome assist. Newcastle went up 1-0. Then it was a básic mauling by Manchester. The midfield got completely overrun and it was like the German army marching into France 1940. Can't really single out Yedlin for bad but they all got destroyed so....
I only got to watch the last 40 minutes and didn’t see a lot to complain about. In fact, Rafa stopped his instructions for a sub at one point to compliment him running by. Every player will have their weaknesses. Yedlin isn’t the worst of Newcastle’s worries.
Truth be told, ManU looked like the varsity playing the JV today (esp. after it went 1-1.) There were few Newcastle players up to it, and the Red front 3-4 were really have a good deal of fun, esp. second half. Yedlin is not good enough to shut down that kind of play - not a lot of Newcastle is.
Not much to be taken from this game except that Manure is a much better team at every spot on the field than Newcastle. Yedlin's height is a liability and there is nothing he can do about that. I am still glad he is on my national team and his speed allows me to accept that limitation.
Yedlin's run on the first goal was a thing of beauty and the one thing Yedlin has always had: A sense of when to make an impact. That run was worthy of it's own USMNT play of the year. On the first goal: Yedlin is screaming at his team to help him. He was marking 2! men not one. Both can beat him in the air. This is why he was yelling for help. Yedlin man marked one of them well, but Martial timed his run, climbed Yedlins back and scored. Yedlin really should have flopped on it there and pretended to be hurt. Climbing the back is probably a foul, but I don't know.
i don't quite understand this. newcastle started great and looked the better team, up 1-0, for the first 37 minutes of the first half. man u score 2 against the run of play. newcastle came out fighting in the second half, but eventually capitulated to a 4-1 score that looks further apart than it was. NU were, for the ~76 minutes i saw, organized, compact, and held a threat going forward. hopefully over the course of the season their quality will show through.
