I have been slimed with many insults in my long life, but this, sir, may be the lowest of them all. All my alcholic forebearers who drown themselves in Springbank and then the Clyde are rolling over in their fishbellies. I'd rather drink dirt, or even Irish Whisky. Well, dirt, at least. Yedlinny is inny! (yeah i know decoverley beat me but I wanted to use my cheesey rhyme.) TEAM NEWS: Here's how Newcastle United will line up at @Everton in the @premierleague this evening (kick-off 8pm BST). #NUFC pic.twitter.com/pgoNqN13Ly— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) April 23, 2018
He's been given some specific defensive tasks. He is pinching narrow and marking the diagonal entry pass. He has been lackadaisical in his off the ball movement on offense. This same critique was given by @TarHeels17 for WM at schalke and it's also true here. He isn't making any space for himself on the pitch to receive passes or as an outlet on offense. BUT, he's playing a good defensive match, much like WM. One is better than none at this point.
Yedlin will take a fair amount of blame on the Everton goal and rightly so. Totally whiffed a header on the cross which ended up right at the feet of Walcott, who mishits the volley right back into Yedlin's shins. Ball then drops right back to Walcott for the goal.
1-0 - The home side take the lead after a cross deflects off Yedlin back into the path of Walcott and he steps inside before lifting the ball into the roof of the net. #NUFC— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) April 23, 2018
Everton with a 4-3 in defense. Yedlin or someone is going to need to go wide in order to break this. On the goal, I'm not going to put much on yedlin. He tries to head away but was marking man. Did what he could.
The jordies a beat late one very pass today.Just not focused. They are all playing like extras in a football movie.
i rarely wave off an appeal for handling in the box. Kennedy is far and away the best player on the pitch. Yedlin on an island and they never find him for hte cross. When they do, he does really well.
ends 1-0 to Everton. Can't say it wasn't deserved. NUFC never focused enough. Too many errant passes.
I wish we had more thoroughly mediocre players who started every week for a mid-table Premier League team.
Undoubtedly! The US would be much better if more of their players were merely mediocre instead of aggressively poor. But there's one reason they are where they are in the table, and that's Rafa Benitez.
I don't know about that. He looked pretty bad on the goal. No even sure why he was trying to pressure Tosun who was positioned between Yedlin and the goal. You've got to trust the CB in that situation and he ended up misjudging the cross horribly. Actually, Walcott was actually just as poor on the play, but his poor control led to an lucky, awkward deflection off Yedlin's thigh and served it on a platter.
