Horrible first half for Yedlin and Newcastle but comeback to tie it 2-2. Yedlin wins the foul that leads to second Newcastle goal
The West Brom defender who scored the own-goal that gave Yedlin's team the tie is the same infamous Jonny Evans who broke Stu Holden.
Since YA forum seems to only care if folks are under 20 anymore, I figured I should give this a bump. Yedlin starts on the bench. Newcastle down 3-1 after taking an initial lead. A couple of bad defensive gaffs for Newcastle
5 plus minutes for Yedlin. Came in as RW to try and make something happen down 3-1. Besides speed down the touch lines he really didn’t have any chances. Strangely just doesn’t seem to know what to do with the ball in the other half of the field, no knack for goal or taking people on or making dynamic run so behind the back line. Was very advanced in the limited time, couple touches on the ball, one nice delayed pass in tight space to Jonjo.
Was going to head to Newcastle this next weekend to see Yedlin play...but I came down with a parasite after a trip to Israel so I had to cancel lol Maybe next year folks
The reports indicate that they went with three at the back, hoping to flood midfield and put a few more bodies up front (some are saying they had a Christmas Tree 3-4-2-1). If so, that's good news, as he didn't lose his place to any RB alternative. Since he's been nearly ever-present this season, it's either that or a slight knock/strain. Rafa has his own idiosyncracies, but there's no reason to think that Yedlin is on the outs with him.
NU is what - 4L 1T in their past 5? (granted that includes ManU and Chelski, but still) They need to tighten up the D somehow - whether DY is a net plus or minus back there compared to other options remains to be seen. Only saw a few minutes of Chelsea - NU didn't look all that sharp. And 14-20 are still pretty tight. Can't imagine they're thrilled with 15 at this point.
What's their formation? I'm seeing a 3 in the back with Yedlin as RCB in Yahoo Sports. That can't be right...
not watching the game, but I'm imagining 2 teams staring at an idle ball in the center of the field with all the players pointing to the other team and saying "you get it!"
Hard to fault him. It was a desperate play where he had to do something. Color commentator was giving Yedlin a bit of stick without calling him out specifically on second goal. There was a long diagonal ball towards Albrightson on his side of the field and the commentator thought he should have been in better position to close him down sooner so he couldn't lay it off so cleanly on first touch. Yedlin did turn in the wrong direction which slowed him down by a step as far as closing Albrightson down but probably a little picky.
Yeah I don’t know about that. It was a really clean touch on the edge of the box. Guess Yedlin could have gambled and risked a penalty or not getting there but he forced the pass back and someone didn’t close that down or turned their back.
Yedlin has a match today and starts as Newcastle are down 1-0 to Everton, but it seems the YA forum is now only a bunch of dudes heading to the closet for alone time with a photo of whatever teenager might be playing.
