Please no. Not to mention the travel. Still. after MLS he should be used to the distances. At least it'll be first class on charters and not coach on scheduled like in MLS.
Aberdeen is a very attractive town... though not so much in late October... August/Sept can be nice, if global warming works out for you.
Aberdeen is a paradise for winter away Europa games. Psht. Kharkiv Ukraine, Kazan Russia, Skopje Macedonia, Borisov Belarus. Now we are talking
Indeed. A nice "warm" -10 centigrade. Dadghestan - the name means Land of Mountains in Turkiish - is in the Caucasus and it's cold as %*#@ here in the winter.
Let me be the first to say there is nothing at all random about living in *Dadghestan. *Had to double check the spelling on google.
Let me just say that the fact that my completely random, off-hand, exceptionally inside quip about Reyna's time at Rangers ends up with an Irish? ManU fan correcting a weather joke about an obscure former Soviet Republic because he appears to actually live there is why I love BS. It may, in fact, be the only reason. Any Yedlin news today?
I don't appear to live there - the Caucasus. I do live in the Caucasus. Tbilisi to be precise. And no, it's not really that cold in the low-lying and coastal cities, but the general mess and poverty makes it feel much, much colder than it actually is. In any case, it doesn't really affect the players. They fly in 24-36 hours before, do some training on the pitch the evening before, the game and go back to the hotel for dinner and video work before turning in for the night (well, they should anyway . . .). Then they play the game, shower, dress and head to the airport. They see very, very little of the city.
That's true. I've never been to Georgia, but I lived in Kazakhstan for a few years. Georgian cuisine clearly outpaced local Russian and Kazakh offerings. The Uyghur cuisine on hand didn't have much breadth, but was also pretty good. In the US, though, there are a lot of major metropolitan areas that lack it entirely. Here in the Boston area, there's a Russian market that sells frozen khinkali...that's about it.
I would say just out of the top five. Part of that is because at Newcastle he has to play with a bit more discipline and not bomb down the sidelines as much as we'd like to see.
Needs to keep getting better going forward. Needs more breadth to his game. But very effective at what he does well: Run, recover, pick his moments, herd, mark.
This is off topic but I'll ask anyway. Why do/did you guys live in Tbilisi and Kazakhstan? Just a bit off the beaten path. I find it interesting when some of our YA friends have ended up in such places.
Hey, I predicted this! (@LouisianaViking07/09 ) It would be fun to see him on a team where he was allowed to do more, though. But he’s a very, very good right back at this point. And he’s seemingly a pretty smart overall player. Impressed.
BOOM! Gets the start vs ManU. PBP worthy: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/yedlin-newcastle-vs-manu-11-18.2078828/
LOL... He did just play in an international friendly and our good brother @wixson7 is fighting the good fight to keep YA alive. It has gotten a bit twisted lately, but despite the USMNT's failure, YA is usually good place to keep up with our lads. The highly polarized arguments from USMNT do not always carry over. So time to get on with it, and focus on our lads and club ball for a while. I am not a big game day thread guy, but it is nice to log in, maybe you forgot somebody had a game today.and click on their thread and have a game thread link. Tells me stop reading if I want to watch it without knowing the (R).
Wow, some folks just like to pick battles on this website. Geez. And yes, I'm vaguely familiar with Yedlins playing trends. And yes, I'm happy when our Yanks get starts.
