Yedlin helped Newcastle see the win out, and they even added the goal at the end, to make it a 3-1 victory. Especially big result considering their opposition who they're trying to create distance from in that first promotional playoff spot. Now they are 11 points clear with 12 games to play (Huddersfield has a game in hand). It's almost always treacherous trying to get promoted in the Championship, but Newcastle are fairly safe it seems. It would take a monumental collapse on their part, and surge from another team, to upend them. Incidentally, 2nd place challengers Brighton also lost, so they are 5 up on them for the title.
Unclear how serious the injury might be . . . http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/us...e-yedlin-injury-update-usmnt-newcastle-united Rafa Benitez says the news on DeAndre Yedlin's injury is 'worse than expected'. #nufc— Miles Starforth (@milesstarforth) March 7, 2017 It’s unclear at this time what exactly that means. Is it worse than expected because it kept him out of action for this match or is it something that could be more long-term? If it’s the former than it could be nothing to worry about. If it’s the latter then United States men’s national team fans have much to worry about. With Timothy Chandler already suspended for the March 24 World Cup qualifier against Honduras, losing Yedlin would force Bruce Arena to dig even deeper into the player pool to fill the right back spot. Possibly even as far as Graham Zusi, who has recently converted from a midfielder to a right back for club and country. It remains to be seen just how bad Yedlin’s injury is. Hopefully it’s nothing. We’ll update as soon as we know more.
I'd rather get nut-tapped every day from now until that match than see Zusi on the field. I don't rate him at all. Desevio or Fossey for me. Anyone but Zusi. Literally, anyone. I cant stand that guy.
Only a little? I was already afraid Bruce would let him tag along. Now he might play. I'm going to pray hard that Yedlin recovers or Zusi retires before then
Sounds like it's a hamstring strain so I'm guessing this will put his call-up status in jeopardy Yedlin could be out for one or two weeks according to Rafa #nufc— Lee Ryder (@lee_ryder) March 7, 2017
These were my thoughts on Zusi at RB in Jan. Better hope Newcastle has a good training staff and gets Dre back in time.
If he's ready to return in two weeks as of yesterday, that still gives him a couple days of training with the national team before March 24.
Yedlin out 1-2 weeks, not sure how this will affect his status in qualifying . . . http://www.espnfc.us/english-league...eandre-yedlin-out-1-2-weeks-with-thigh-injury The injury endangers Yedlin's chances of playing in two critical World Cup qualifiers at the end of the month against Honduras and Panama. Benitez told England-based outlet Chronicle Live that Yedlin first sustained the injury on Feb. 28 in Newcastle's 2-1 win over Brighton, and felt the injury again in the 3-1 victory over Huddersfield four days later, despite only coming on in the 81st minute as a substitute. "[Yedlin] was complaining, and you could see that maybe it would be one week or two weeks," Benitez told Chronicle Live about the defender's stint against Huddersfield. "He had a knock, maybe has a small tear."
Is it too soon to blame Jurgen. It would be sad to move Cameron back outside at this point, but maybe not the worst idea in the whole world. Not sure there is anyone in form and in position at the moment I'd prefer.
Nice. Tweaks hammy and plays 4 days later? Someone who depends on speed should get at least a week. Oh, well, live and learn.
