anyone else watching? Yedlin not helping stop Man City manhandling of Newcastle. 1-0 MC at 16 minute.
Newcastle have more pep in the step since the how. But I think they will need one more for hope of a draw.
Obviously the goal makes that great first half for Yedlin. He perhaps could have done better on Sterling’s goal but the defensive major error was by the CB for the turnover.
1-1 at the half The Man City goal came when Sterling took Yedlin on off the dribble and was able to cut inside on him and fire into the net. Yeldin's goal came on off of decent work on the counter by Newcastle. Yedlin made a long run past Jesus who was trying to track him and Rondon rolled the ball across the box to him. Yedlin, playing right back in back 5, has been giving Sterling space so that he does not dribble pass him. This has left Sterling when time to play passes that have mostly not come off. There were a couple instances were Yedlin got a foot on the ball against Sterling, but one went out for a corner that Yedlin looked he thought would be a goal kick and another time the ball fell to Sterling who played in a decent cross. Yedlin was called for a foul late in the half just outside the box. He won the ball cleanly, but then Sterling collided with Yedlin's legs.
The predictable second goal from Man City with a sweet strike from Kyle Walker. And Newcastle sub in who I assume is another attacking type.
Game over, 2-1. Despite the goal, Yedlin was frequently picked on by Sterling. I’d give him a six rating overall.
