Thanks to this MLSsoccer.com article I learned that George has been making the bench for the first team: http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...oses-out-first-season-norway-julian-green-see He's made the bench but didn't play in their last 3 league games since his debut. He also played 79 minutes in a reserve game. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...etten-7038_spvgg-greuther-fuerth-ii-1420.html
George has scored the lone Fuerth goal in 2 consecutive 1-2 losses for the reserve team. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...rt-05-1296_spvgg-greuther-fuerth-ii-1420.html http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...ther-fuerth-ii-1420_1860-muenchen-ii-123.html The first team plays today; I'm guessing he will make the bench.

From December 16th. "Attacker Jann George of the SpVgg Greuther Fürth II had to undergo surgery on his right knee. In so far with thirteen hits in 18 games successful Fürth scorers in the League Bavaria, the joint was cleaned by means of an arthroscopy. To start training after the winter break, the 22-year-old becomes available again." This went under the radar, apparently it's taking longer than expected.

He's apparently playing for SSV Jahn Regensburg. (Make you Jann/Jahn jokes now.) He's started 3 of their 4 games in the Regionalliga Bayern and played the 2nd half in the other one. No goals yet. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...egensburg-1377/58912/spieler_george-jann.html
Contract 'till the end of this season. Probably released by Furth after not exactly setting the club alight.
Last year, he scored 14 goals in 18 games for Fürth's reserves and got a cup of coffee with the first team in the fall. After the winter break, he was nowhere to be seen. I wonder if he got injured or if he burned bridges with a club again.
Jann has played 932 minutes with 2 goals this season. His team is in 2nd place, one point out of the promotion spot. http://us.soccerway.com/players/jann-george/126361/
US Jann George has scored Regensburg's 4th Goal as they are beating Schalding 4-1 (NOTE 3rd US Player to Score today) Gall, Picault, George)— AccrossthePond (@accrossthepond) April 22, 2016
Jahn Regensburg just beat Wolfsburg II in the Regionalliga playoffs, thereby winning promotion back to the 3.Liga. According to Transfermarkt, George is out of contract so it's as yet unclear if he'll be making the move up with the club.
http://www.idowa.de/inhalt.drittlig...ten.7a4c4323-9725-43f5-9f29-f8e3e7d2e26b.html It looks like he'll stick around: (via translation) This will be his first opportunity to play regularly at a professional level. His sole previous pro appearance came for Greuther Fürth in the 2.Bundesliga in the 2014-15 season. Yawning is Contagious: Jann George at Jahn Regensburg. @bungadiri
Scored a goal in Regensburg's 4-3 road win over Sonnenhof Großaspach. Six points from the first two games and George has been a 90 minute starter so far.
The Jann/Jahn similarity is actually no accident - both are spelling variants of the same name (the equivalent of John in English). As John, they are Germanic spelling variants of the Greek/biblical Ioannes. The club Jahn Regensburg is named after https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Ludwig_Jahn
He scored on David Yeldell's club, but Yeldell wasn't in the net. http://www.ssv-jahn.de/profis/news/6121
George scored his second of the season today in a 2-0 win over Hallescher FC. Regensburg are now in 1st place with nine points from their first three games.
