Last year, he scored 14 goals in 18 games for Fürth's reserves and got a cup of coffee with the first team in the fall. After the winter break, he was nowhere to be seen. I wonder if he got injured or if he burned bridges with a club again.

I was thinking something along the lines of "George of the Jahn-gle."

Jahn Regensburg just beat Wolfsburg II in the Regionalliga playoffs, thereby winning promotion back to the 3.Liga.

According to Transfermarkt, George is out of contract so it's as yet unclear if he'll be making the move up with the club.

It looks like he'll stick around: (via translation)

This will be his first opportunity to play regularly at a professional level. His sole previous pro appearance came for Greuther Fürth in the 2.Bundesliga in the 2014-15 season.

Yawning is Contagious: Jann George at Jahn Regensburg.

I still feel like there was something in my "George of the Jahn-gle" idea but ... well, needed work.

Scored a goal in Regensburg's 4-3 road win over Sonnenhof Großaspach. Six points from the first two games and George has been a 90 minute starter so far.

The Jann/Jahn similarity is actually no accident - both are spelling variants of the same name (the equivalent of John in English). As John, they are Germanic spelling variants of the Greek/biblical Ioannes. The club Jahn Regensburg is named after https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friedrich_Ludwig_Jahn

George scored his second of the season today in a 2-0 win over Hallescher FC. Regensburg are now in 1st place with nine points from their first three games.
