With a Haitian father and Japanese mother, Herivaux actually owns citizenship in three countries. He chose to represent Haiti internationally, following in the footsteps of his footballer father.

 

How did he qualify for Germany? Germany doesn't have birthright citizenship for the child of two non-permanent-resident non-nationals.

 

That crossed my mind as well. It works for FIFA, as long as he has German passport, but not so much for the German citizenship authorities.
