Did he already have a provisionally tying appearance for them at a youth level?

There's been a fair bit of press coverage in Japan on the tri-national Herivaux. The linked article notes his Osaka-accented Japanese, that he has rejected cap-tying Haiti callups in order to retain his eligibility for either Japan or the US, and his high school summers spent training with a powerhouse high school team in Osaka.

Darren Randolph started in goal for Ireland:

Ended up 1-0, putting them into the playoff round for a shot at the WC.

Herivaux starts against his birth country. Andrew Jean-Baptiste and Derrick Etienne are in the Haiti squad as well, while Gotoku Sakai starts for Japan.

Well, it looks like Thomas Delaney or Darren Randolph will get a chance to play in the WC:

I wonder if Bjorn Johnson had waited to declare he would be looking at getting a call up against Portugal w/ the US.

I thought that rang a bell.

Here's an article where he discusses his father's service:

    https://www.pressreader.com/new-zealand/marlborough-express/20100621/281505042471377

He mentions the weird twist of his father being born in the US and raised in NZ, but serving in the US military (which could theoretically mean that Shane isn't eligible for US citizenship if his father didn't live long enough in the US). And Shane was born in Germany and raised mostly in Australia after the age of 6.

Bit off topic, but kind of surprised by those odds. Are Denmark really that heavily favored to win over Ireland? I'd think that'd be the one closest to 50-50. And, well barring using hindsight from last night, would think Italy would be the most heavily favored to qualify. The other two seem about right.

So, UEFA says an American '92 named Chijioke David Aranotu played a couple of games for the Italian region of Lombardy, the capital of which is is Milan and which has, Wikipedia assures me, numerous species of endemic flora, in the 2016 edition of something called the Regions Cup, which seems to be an amateur competition that ended last year with Zagreb the eventual winner. All of this makes only partial sense to me, so I don't even know if this belongs here. In any case, he appears to be a guy from California who played JuCo soccer and may still be in Italy. Good times.
