I can't run a photo through Google Translate, but it looks like El Salvador is adding Arturo Alvarez to the Gold Cup roster: 876885644689240070 is not a valid tweet id (looks like the Fed already deleted the tweet. Looks like the attempt to add Alvarez to El Salvador didn't work: The hope that the player Arturo Alvarez contributed his football to the National Team in the Gold Cup, was faded from the court. CONCACAF, through a letter, reiterated to the president of the Salvadoran Football Federation, Jorge Alberto Cabrera, that it is no longer possible because the call ended 30 days before the tournament began. CONCACAF secretary Philippe Moggio said that the player can no longer be registered on the provisional list of players, because the deadline to register 40 players has passed. Not quite sure why El Salvador is releasing their Gold Cup roster in pieces, but it appears these Yanks have been named to the final roster: Convocatoria con fecha 21 de Junio para Legionarios para que participarán en @CopaOro 2017. pic.twitter.com/rUP82PMpFv— La Selecta (@LaSelecta_SLV) June 21, 2017 Richard Menjivar Derby Carrillo

According to Ives, Bill Hamid seriously considered switching to Sierra Leone. Saturday's Gold Cup match against Nicaragua cap tied him to the US. While Hamid wouldn't confirm it, sources tell Goal that Hamid's lengthy absence from the national team prior to the Gold Cup had led him to at least consider the possibility of playing for African nation Sierra Leone, where his parents are from. It is unclear just how close Hamid came to considering playing for Sierra Leone, but seeing his joy after Saturday's win, and his emotions when discussing his U.S. national team dream, it is clear how much playing for the U.S. means to him. "I've been patiently waiting for the opportunity," Hamid told Goal. "It's been years that I haven't had the opportunity. Obviously there was another country interested in me, but I know where my heart is." http://beta.goal.com/en-us/news/bil...n-his-place-as-top/1arhaq2l1fgcs1f3n6q84e1uo9
A Leander article on the pull of both sides for Mexican-American players: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...o-war-for-prospects-tests-players-allegiances Focused heavily on Jesse Gonzalez decision, but with plenty of background on the issue.
Good article but one minor quip about it. He states that many Mexican-American kids are ready for a life in Mexico but from what we hear many of them aren't as they are used to the creature comforts of the US. Also, what I find interesting and something that I believe we will see more of, are the kids whose parents are Mexican and passing on the citizenship (like Arriola). While the kids may start their careers in Mexico they more than likely will be more "American" than the current generation of kids we are seeing.

I don't know how I missed Junior Burgos -- well, I keep confusing him with Rafael Burgos. And, he's only played about 7 minutes against Curacao. DNP against Mexico & Jamaica. On the bench against the US.
At least we have Haji Wright who is about the same size, faster, about 7 years younger and in a better setup. I think Johnsen has a better aerial game and stronger more accurate shot.
