Gyau got most of the game against high flying Union Berlin in a 2-3 loss, really hoping Duisburg can stay up. That bottom 4 in the BL 2 is pretty tight right now.

Their careers at age 21 aren't remotely similar.

Have not seen it posted but Julian Green had a 2nd good match under Furth's new coach. Green scored a penalty and had 3 tackles with a WS 7.5. In the 2 matches has played a CAM in a 4-2-3-1 and a CAM in a 4-1-4-1.

Green is benefiting from the new coach going back to attempting to possess and distribute the ball in the center of the pitch instead of the pure bunker/long ball counter that the previous coach resorted to in the 8 or so matches before he was fired.

    here
I thought McKennie acquitted himself well vs. ManCity. At 20 years old, he looks like a solid CL player. Also, he won a bunch of aerial challenges in the midfield.

Schalke was up 2-1 when he left (after being kicked in the d*ck), and gave up 2 goals after WM subbed out.

EPB apparently did much better today, helping pitch for a shut out this time around. Good response from last week

For a young CB, it's all about getting a steady stream of starts. Miazga, CCV, and EPB hopefully, settle in for the remainder of the European season.

Surely, Morales can get another cap?

Improvement in the area of key passes has got to be the next step for Green.

Recent assist and goal for late '94 left winger Tyler Boyd for Ankaragucu in the Turkish Super Lig. He's provisionally cap-tied to New Zealand and has even played five senior friendlies in the past, but has rejected cap-tying callups. Born to an American mother and grew up in California up to age 10.

He would easily be one of the top few New Zealand national teamers if he wanted to. Probably third behind Chris Wood and Ryan Thomas. (That doesn't necessarily mean Boyd is worthy of a US call.) Unclear whether the USMNT is Boyd's first choice deep down, but if you had to bet on it, you'd probably bet it is, that he'd accept the US call if offered. As noted by Brian Sciaretta in Boyd's YA thread, it's always telling when a dual-nat turns down cap-tying callups from one federation to ostensibly focus on club career. His last NZ friendly cap was in November 2014 and he's apparently spurned them since then.

I really don't understand that Morales thing. How can we ignore a solid, every week starter in the Bundesliga in favor of MB/WT?

Maybe he was just overlooked by Arena bc he wanted to use his lions. Hopefully Berhalter isn't so myopic.

I've only seen him play once, against McKennie's Schalke, and he looked awful.

sorta furthers my point/question...others say "we saw him once for the US three years ago, he didn't convince" while simultaneously saying MB was good 4 years ago, so he needs to be in the squad.

Shouldn't we assume guys being paid large sums of money (Bundesliga coaches/executives) know a bit more than we do from watching 90 minutes two weeks ago, or two games in a US shirt 3 years ago?

Arena was quoted as saying about Morales and Williams "there are players in MLS that play his position"!

During Klinsmann's tenure Morales was behind Jones, Bradley, Beckerman, Bedoya, and Williams on the depth chart. With Jones and Williams out and Bedoya returning from injury for GC2015 Morales got his chance but did not impress paired with Bradley and Beckerman in CM in that tournament.

He did not seem to work well with MB90 and that may have been enough to push him down the depth chart. Perry Kitchen even moved up JK's chart over Morales.

Morales is a replacement for Trapp/Bradley and can't protect (forward destroy for) Bradley like Jones did.

    here
Way up thread, I post "I sure hope Pulisic doesn't want to go to Chelsea."

    Poster to remain nameless replies:

"Why? Sarri would be a fantastic coach to learn from. He also has a track record for getting the best out of his players. Willian and Pedro are on the wrong side of 30 and inconsistent so he will get a legit chance at the starting RW role."

Me (post 365) "How long will Sarri be there?"

I’m fairly certain that was me and I still stand by Chelsea being the best option in England. Of the top 6 the other clubs either wouldn’t pony the cash up, he’d struggle to break into or their coach is potentially on the way out too or a combination of those.

It would be unfortunate if he didn’t get play for Sarri. But it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Chelsea may have a merry go round of coaches but they always have top class coaches.
