We'll have to see if this actually leads to anything substantial:

Each one of the clubs of the #FutMX must count with 21 players, all them #Sub23. #MujerFutbol

Looks like it will be U23, so not many Yanks likely to play there.

A bit of confusion on the rules for this new Liga MX league...

Bonilla set out the regulations, saying each team will be made up of Under-23 players with at least four spots reserved for Under-17 players and two spots for players over 23. All told, rosters will have 21 spots, with two of those set out for goalkeepers. Foreign players will not be eligible to participate, though Bonilla said Mexican-Americans are welcome under FIFA regulations.

Veronica Perez is disappointed that there is a 2 +23 limit in the new Mexican league:

Great initiative! Get me happy but because U23 with 2 players of age free? There is much talent and experience >23 @LIGABancomerMX

    http://www.perthglory.com.au/article/perth-the-perfect-fit-for-dibernardo/1sw3k0yclmto61u5x1ij5su1wt

Having proved such an important acquisition last season, re-signing Vanessa DiBernardo for season 2016-2017 (on loan from Chicago Red Stars) was crucial for Glory. The American scored six goals from just eight appearances and claimed the Most Glorious player for the W-League side at the end of season awards night. Perth Glory and DiBernardo seem to be the perfect fit, with the U20 Women’s World Cup winner praising the club and the city.

Seems that she was able to make the jump and has been called in for the US U18 squad camp:

Courtney Strode (Vaxjo DFF; Oceanside, Calif.)
    http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...d-last-training-camp-of-2016-at-us-soccer-ntc

    She debuted well:

Strode's debut in Vaxjo DFF scorer and injured

The debut in the first team started on a positive note but ended on a low note for the American Courtney Strode.
First she made decisive match 1-0 DFF Växjö in Småland Cup against Färjestaden and soon after she was forced out injured.

Looks like Courtney Strode was okay and scored again a week or two later:

After 25 minutes of the cup match between IFK Värnamo and Växjö DFF led Division 1 team 2-0. Posted on a cliffhanger? No. Vaxjo DFF turned before the break and eventually won the whole 9-2.

The match between Småland neighbors meant round two of the Swedish Cup. Vaxjo DFF started off with no name Anna Anvegård and Nellie Ohlsson, but ran away properly in the second half.

Ritah Kivumbu 3, Erika Gabrielsson 2, Venera Rexhi, Alexandra Jonasson, Elin Nilsson and Courtney Strode did Vaxjo DFF's goal. Next, wait league game away against Dwell on Saturday.

Recap from the W-League (thanks to NWSL):

    Newcastle Jets 1-1 Melbourne Victory
Chicago Red Stars forward Jen Hoy scored for the fourth straight game as she helped Newcastle Jets salvage a 1-1 draw against Melbourne Victory.

Hoy came up with her goal in the 84th minute as Newcastle narrowly avoided a third consecutive loss. All four tallies for the Red Stars players have come during the streak and she is now tied for second on the Westfield W-League scoring chart.

Chicago defender Sam Johnson returned from serving a one-match suspension to play the full 90 minutes for the Victory, who missed out on securing their first win of the season by conceding a goal in the last 10 minutes for the second week in a row.

Red Stars defender Arin Gilliland, Western New York Flash goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland and Boston Breakers defender Megan Oyster also featured for the entire match for Newcastle.

    Perth Glory 4-1 Adelaide United

Chicago Red Stars midfielder Vanessa DiBernardo also tallied her second goal of the W-League season – both in the last three weeks – as Perth won their third straight game to push into second in the Australian standings. Chicago midfielder Alyssa Mautz and Sky Blue FC midfielder Nikki Stanton each picked up their sixth start of the year for Glory.

On the other side of the ball, Red Stars forward Sophia Huerta scored for the second consecutive contest to provide the lone goal of the match for Adelaide. Chicago players Danielle Colaprico and Katie Naughton both played all 90 minutes for the sixth consecutive game this season for United in a match that featured a total five Red Stars on loan.

Western Sydney Wanderers 2-1 Melbourne City FC
Seattle Reign FC defender Kendall Fletcher scored two goals to spark Western Sydney Wanderers to a 2-1 win against Melbourne City FC to help her loan team snap a two-match winless run.

Western Sydney fell behind early to a 3rd-minute goal by MCFC forward Marianna Tabain, but Fletcher had Wanderers back on level terms in the 18th minute and then sent them into the lead when she stepped up to convert from the penalty spot in the 49th minutes.

The Reign defender also played all 90 minutes as Western Sydney was able to hold their opponents to the under two goals for the just the second time this season. Washington Spirit forward Katie Stengel also played the entire match as Wanderers became just the second team to beat Melbourne City FC.

Houston goalkeeper Lydia Williams, Seattle defender Lauren Barnes, Reign midfielder Jess Fishlock and FC Kansas City midfielder Erika Tymrak lined up in the starting XI for Melbourne City, who have now lost back-to-back matches after winning their first 16 regular-season games.

Canberra United 5-1 Brisbane Roar FC
Houston Dash defender Stephanie Ochs scored the game-winning goal as Canberra United earned a 5-1 victory over Brisbane Roar FC that propelled them to the top of the W-League standings.

The win extended Canberra’s unbeaten run to five games – including four victories – as forwards Ashleigh Sykes and Nicky Flannery both had two goals to lead United.

Portland Thorns FC forward Celeste Boureille saw action for the sixth straight game as she went all 90 minutes for the fourth time this season to help Canberra score five goals in a match for the second occasion this year.

The four-goal margin of victory saw to it that Canberra finished the weekend level on points with Perth Glory, but in first place thanks to a plus-8 goal difference.
