Article that discusses Lindsey Horan's time in France: https://sports.yahoo.com/lindsey-horans-road-never-traveled-180948270.html On the field, assimilation came quicker, but was nonetheless turbulent. At training, Horan would wait for English explanations that never came. Some of her first French words were the soccer terms for “man on” (sa vient) and “space” (sol) – but of course she mixed them up, and would turn into pressure, or hurry passes unnecessarily, until realizing the interpretive error. She also had to reform her diet. “I was the worst with my nutrition and fitness,” Horan admits. “I knew nothing about it, nor did I care about it.” And the club’s technical staff, led by head coach Farid Benstiti, didn’t care about communicating fitness goals respectfully. “They were just terrible,” Horan says. “Especially with female players, they were just [saying], ‘You need to lose weight, you need to get thinner, you need to run more.’ “But it was more [about] how you were seen and not how it was helping you play,” Horan says of the demands. At one practice, Benstiti told her she was benched until she shed weight. Afterward, she called mom and said she wanted to quit.
Kaycie Young signs in Sweden: Former Kansas player Kaycie Young has signed with Swedish side Sundsvall.— Chris Henderson (@chris_awk) May 22, 2019
Sundsvall is currently fighting relegation in Elitettan (the 2:nd tier league in Sweden). Was a top-team for most of last year (one of four that seemed to be in the fight for the two promotion spots) but ended the season on the 7:th place (of 14) after an unsuccessful end of the season. Overheard one of their players talking with an ex teammates during another game, and it seems Sundsvall was a bit in disarray that year due to a power-struggle between the coach and the chairman and a lot of players was leaving after that season. Seeing that they currently is in spot 13 (12-14 get relegated) that is likely to have been true.
