    Another unusual story...

American HS player (who only played on a boys' team in her last year) is going to Doncaster to play for the WSL2 club as an amateur on the development squad:

    http://www.battlecreekenquirer.com/...d-play-professional-soccer-england/484743001/

Battle Creek's Marti Floyd took the road less traveled.

After three standout seasons for the Lakeview High School girls soccer team, she opted not to come out her senior year so she could play travel club ball with the boys team at Alliance Academy based in Grand Rapids.

Floyd is expected to join the developmental squad, which offers her the opportunity to be called up to the bench of the club team on a week-to-week basis.

She will attend Leeds Beckett University in West Yorkshire where she will also play soccer.

Darcy McFarlane has moved to Sweden:

Former UNC midfielder Darcy McFarlane has signed with Östersunds DFF, which plays in the Elitettan, Sweden’s second tier soccer league. Östersunds won promotion to the league in 2014 but currently sits in 12th place, in danger of relegation to Division 1.

McFarlane played for North Carolina from 2013 through 2016, making it to the NCAA tournament every year and leading the team to the College Cup as co-captain in 2016. She previously signed with Celtic FC in Scotland’s SWPL.

Goalkeeper Kaeli Schmidt lists herself on her Facebook page as "former goalkeeper at FC Barcelona," but shows she is a student at Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona.

Interesting to know what her soccer career is about now.

Susana Zigante is a GK with Osijek in Croatia. Her mother, Gretchen Gegg, had a couple of caps in the USWNT's early days of the '80s and '90s. Her father, Nenad, played GK in MISL and was a coach with the San Jose Clash and elsewhere around the US.

She's appeared in a few U19 matches for Croatia and her Croatian Wikipedia page says she had one full-team cap back in 2012.

She had 3 Champions League appearances with Osijek in 2015

Samantha Arellano is listed on the Tijuana Xolas roster in Wikipedia as the new Mexican league kicks off. She played at UC-Riverside and called San Ysidro her home. She was part of the Mexican U17 squad at the 2012 WC and listed a San Diego club.

She may not be eligible if she is US born or may not be a US citizen. Hard to know with what little info we get on these squads.

Emily Armstrong, UCONN grad, joins last place Medilka in attempt to get them out of the relegation zone. 10 games left and they're four points out, although have only scored five goals in their twelve games.

Four players from this year’s team are now on their way to Europe. This group includes Ashley Clarke, who scored 11 goals and tallied five assists for the Reserves in 2017. Clarke, along with her Reserves teammate McKenzie Hollenbaugh, will both play for HAV Football Club in France.

Hannah Keane is going to Germany to play in the Bundesliga for USV Jena, and Hayley Katkowski heads to FC Slovacko in the Czech Republic.

Vasterås BK30 is a Swedish team (2nd tier) from the town of Vasteras.
Which with four players going to Sweden raise the question, are there some special link between the Breakers (or at least their reserve team) and Sweden?

    More overseas signings:

Former Boston Breakers defender Kylie Strom and Minnesota alum Simone Kolander have both signed with AC Sparta Praha in Prague, the most dominant team in the Czech Republic’s national league. As last year’s league runners-up, the team received an automatic spot into the Round of 32 of the 2017-2018 Champions League.

I can't tell about her citizenship status, but Itzel Gonzalez is the starting GK for Tijuana and has been in the US through high school and college. She was born in Tijuana, so eligible for the league.

Not surprisingly, her English is perfect:

She got a clean sheet in her first match.
