We're getting close to the WWC! Like 2015, I'm creating a separate thread for rosters as they're announced and so we nerds can keep track of roster-related stats. Thanks, @blissett, for announcing the Netherlands roster in the Panini sticker thread: Netherlands GKs: Sari Van Venendaal, Loes Geurts, Lize Kop DFs: Desirée Van Lunteren, Stefanie Van der Gragt, Kika Van Es, Anouk Dekker, Merel Van Dongen, Danique Kerkdijk, Dominique Bloodworth, Liza Van der Most MFs: Sherida Spitse, Danielle Van de Donk, Jill Roord, Jackie Groenen, Inessa Kaagman, Victoria Pelova FWs: Shanice Van de Sanden, Vivianne Miedema, Lieke Martens, Renate Jansen, Ellen Jansen, Lineth Beerensteyn
Thanks for the mention, @lil_one , but actually Netherlands' roster had already been announced on 10th of April on the Netherlands 2019 thread by @L'orange, who had re-posted an official Tweet.

Like last WWC, I'm doing a couple of stats for the rosters, so to catch up... (And as always, I freely admit that there are likely some mistakes. Average ages are calculated to the opening day of the WWC.) Netherlands: Average age: 25 years, 11 months, and 18 days WC newbies: 10 New Zealand: Average age: 26 years, 6 months, and 13 days WC newbies: 6 Norway: Average age: 25 years, 9 months, and 25 days WC newbies: 13

Huge number of newbies, a change of generation happened in that cycle. Also very late after the Euro 2017) and three managers in that 4 years cycle.

Here's a nice look at each player on the English squad. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...s-world-cup-squad-for-france-2019-in-pictures
England players will be on the pitch this weekend, more or less, and some still have the Champions League final. Meanwhile, the U.S. players stopped playing for the clubs a week ago, which is BS, IMO.
The French are the same, they started the training camp yesterday. With 14 players as 8 are with Lyon until the 18th and one with Arsenal.
Well, as at @hotjam2 posted on the England thread, England NT had a very peculiar way to announce the roster: There were various "celebrities" making the announces, although I wonder if a royal prince can be labeled as just a "celebrity"... It gives me great pleasure to announce that our @Lionesses' defensive rock and captain @StephHoughton2 will be on the plane to France for the Women's World Cup.Steph - congratulations. I know you and the team will do the nation proud. Good luck!#BeReady #Lionesses pic.twitter.com/xoRHnNeCrI— The Prince and Princess of Wales (@KensingtonRoyal) May 8, 2019 I also wonder how it was chosen "who would have announced who". Most important players got most important announcers? Players' preferences were somehow taken into account?
Yes, it means newbies as it relates to the WC, not number of caps or making a Euro or Olympics roster.
I'll anticipate part of @lil_one's statistics: Nadeshiko Japan has 17 newbies! Out of the 6 "veterans" in the team, one played just in 2015 (Yuika Sugasawa), three played in 2011 and 2015 (Aya Sameshima, Saki Kumagai and Mana Iwabuchi) and two played in 2007, 2011 and 2015 (Rumi Utsugi and Mizuho Sakaguchi).
No room for vets Kawasumi, Ariyoshi, or Nagasato. In particular the latter is a wonderful player I can’t remember if she retired willingly from NT or if the new coach doesn’t rate her. I would want Nagasato on my team any day.
