 What the f**k is that jinx? Loew must be sleeping with the wrong whore for heavens sake, as the wrath of fate is hitting the German fans hard. He must be defiled by some wicked curse. Never before have I seen a squad losing such important players before a big tournament like this. Not even Vogts! This must be a message or a warning from the "higher forces" that Loew shouldn't be on the head of Germany's team. The FDB should notice it.

Heiko picked up an injury (of probably a broken foot) following a lame experimental match with a bunch of Hungarian idiots. It is to be noted that Westermann was expected to play an extremely vital role in the team, as he's been one of the most experienced and versatile players. Now Germany has to do with a group of kindergarten boys! This campaign has been doomed from the start!

Come on! Stop whining about it. It is what it is. IMHO Westermann isnt exactly our dealbreaker. Someone else will get the chance then no problem. Why do you always have to think that these things work against, why not just think this might be positive. Tipical german pessimism:rolleyes:

His only worth is if another CM gets injured really. He could have played LB as well, I think this means it's a lock for Jansen who is average defensively to play there :S

What are you saying man. This team is literally the U21.. add to them may be Schweini & Lahm. Who are we kidding? A bunch of kids can get no trophies.

Germany was always famous by prominent Central Midfielders (Overrath, Netzer, Schuester, Breitner, Haessler, Moeller, Mattaeus, Effenberg) AND excellent goal keepers (Maier, Schumacher, Kahn).. now we have neither. Add to that a complete dullness in the strikers.

We have to be realistic. This has nothing to do with pessimism. Bland realism.

Not surprising really. We went through the same thing the weeks leading up to the 2002 World Cup. I remember Scholl, Novotny, and Deisler getting injured. If I'm correct, I think the latter was injured in a practice session.

In 2006, Lahm injured his elbow in a test match against a bunch of nobodies. Luckily for us, it wasn't serious enough to stop him from playing. You might remember that he played much of teh tournament with a brace on his left elbow.

I'm still surprised how Loew so cavalierly dismissed players like Jermaine Jones and Kevin Kuranyi, when he could really use them now. Big fan of Jones, he'd make a great Defensive midfielder, which we now don't have with the loss of Westermann. (Although, I think Jones is injured too.)

Fring's experience would go along way with this team due to the recent injuries. Add to the fact that he plays with Marin and Oil at Bremen and therefore already knows how to play well with these kids.

Not to mention he has loads of experience playing with Lahm, Klose, Prince Poldi and Schweinaldo with the NT.

I don't think he would replace Ballack as their game is very different, but the end result could have been an additional safety net from a potentially disappointing WC appearance based only on the fact that this inexperienced team is far from being matured, and the best way to have them do this is to play them along side the veteran players that bring so much to the game.

I guess this thread does not permit sarcasm.

Although your extremely negative attitude is noted. Didn't you hear that Obama was elected? He will save the world and the NT!

    Sure! He's everything to everyone!

I'm just trying to give Cris a reason to believe. Did anyone tell him that
    a) Maradona is coaching the Argies
    b) Lampard is still taking penalties for England
    c) ???
