    WPSL Final [R]

The Storm won the 2004 WPSL Championship by the same 3-2 score as Laura Schott scored the winning goal in the 89th minute.

    WPSL Final: California 3, N.E. 2...

Check out the Soccer America articles on the games, especially the two that involved the Diamonds, for some interesting happenings.

    SA - WPSL Stories

Here are a couple of quotes:

Note: Bivens has been on their roster all year, even though I do not think that she had played for them before now because of NWT commitments. Branam, on the other hand, has not been on their roster and even now is not on their roster - their own rules say that a player has to be on a roster for at least a week before she can participate. So - what happened?

WPSL is incredibly casual, and nobody was about to complain because it would make the whole league look bad if a semifinalist had to play without a real GK. Without Branam, Denver loses 10-1 in the semis, no lie.

Also a change on scoring in the first game. It was LeDuc, not Schnurr, who scored the first NE goal in the semi. The league had reversed things, and I know that the SA reporter was talking to Bivens and Branam during the goals, so he didn't see them and relied on the league report.

Laura was shadow by two players the whole game, she kicked into a gear that blew everybody in the crowd away! It was a finish you would see only in the movies. MVP of the 2004 season!
