Yeah, I'm pretty excited by this news, too. It will be interesting to see how such a team shapes up. The UT women's team program seems to be trying to really build, maybe having a summer/amateur league in town (a la PDL) would help boost that, and vice versa. I'd expect they'll play in the "Big Sky South" division (http://www.wpsl.info/schedule/index.php?home_division=10), against rivals FC Dallas (!), Houston, Tulsa, Arkansas, Gulf Coast, etc.
Very excited! Our soccer drought has ended in a big way, it seems. It was just a couple of months ago that I learned about the FC Dallas WPSL team. Then I discovered the existence of the Fort Worth team, which I intended to follow and support. Now with an Austin expansion team, I feel so torn... Not a bad problem to have, though.
I like this. I'm interested to find out more about the team before they start playing in May. There's a forum dedicated to WPSL/W-league in BS.
I'd pay to see them play. Hope that something can be put together for 2012 (seems like short notice, doesn't it?)
