I think a funny book could be made of poor reviews of restaurants, stores, and people providing services like doctors, with connecting material written by an author. I'm wondering if websites like Yelp have people's reviews copyrighted by them. A book could cite whatever name the person posted with the review to avoid plagiarism, but I don't know if it would be legal to cite and distribute the reviews. I think the people who wrote reviews would deserve to be compensated for being cited, but that would be impossible unless the people who wrote reviews provided contact information.

I'm pretty sure that Yelp retains some sort of proprietorship over the content, which means the author would probably have to pay them.

Edit: yup: from the Yelp TOS...
