Really what I'm getting at is that when the Union gave people a compelling reason to care, they will. Yes, the team has failed to stand out during a dead spot for all teams in the city, but I'm not sure it keep those eyes invested if things flattened out. Putting an exciting team on the field matters. That feeds everything thing else. Once you get those people in, then its about building the connection so it stays. I feel like this is where the team made a mistake. Early, the organization had an inflated sense of how many truly connected die hards there are and assumed it would always have a queue out the door.
http://www.phillysoccerpage.net/2016/08/04/3-trades-3-players-evaluating-the-unions-deadline-deals/ So. Much. Optimism. Just 10 short months ago. Now, it kinda looks like we traded the #1 overall pick next season & TAM & GAM for a has been striker who has logged 1 assist in 81 minutes. A midfielder who took a half season to find some rhythm. Yeesh. Maybe this belongs in the Fire Earnie Stewart thread.
Happy 4th to all the Americans and jolly random Tuesday to all the rest. Anybody know the story of the guy in the wheelchair that sometimes does the anthem? Always impressed with his enthusiasm and sincerity. Something that the FO did okay on though I liked the fan only idea. Guess it doesn't look as good on TV when the 16,000+ aren't all singing.
Yeah, it's cool when that guy sings... the girl that normally sings is really solid too... with the river end being a shell of its former self I'm totally on board with it... no point in having 10 people in the stands sing it... it was cool early on when there was participation, but those days are gone. Back on topic though... 882012834149879814 is not a valid tweet id Jesus, is this a good thing? Not only is this a timeline that was selected to make the U look as good as possible, but even with a manipulated criteria there are 3 teams better than us. Might as well have said our 3 points Saturday are tied for best in the league.
A survey went out about TV broadcasts... I finally get to voice my frustration about the broadcast team not traveling to away games!
I asked them to hire Adam Cann from PSP to do a bit on tactical analysis pre-game but I don't see that happening since it would bring up too many shortcomings.
The home game analysis is much better than the away for the simple fact they can see the whole field. Otherwise I'm just listening to two old homers watching on a monitor. I can get that effect at PJ Whelihans (that one time they remembered to show the game and there was another fan).
I can see they put a lot of thought into this one to come up with "House Snake". I commend the FO for having the ability to even make the best show on TV seem second-rate and cringey. 884492417684172800 is not a valid tweet id
Speaking of theme nights, jesus christ, what a shit show underneath every post about pride night... people are nuts.
This is not specific to pride night, but I'd rather not have any theme nights. How about we just have 17 come down to Talen to see the Union play so and so nights? So everyone knows, the most offensive theme games to me are the star wars, game of thrones, fresh prince nights etc. What incredibly minor league distracting wastes of time.
The Phillies do theme nights. Captain Picard bobblehead night. Everybody's an Italian Night Who the fcuk wears swimmer caps?? It's 2017!! Night
The inventory of games makes it a bit different. I don't like theme nights. Telling me the Phillies or some other team does it won't change that. They're a non-sequitur and you run the risk of alienating someone. Create a game day experience focused on the game and the team. This other stuff is fluff, pandering, or both.
