That's how I see it. There's no way to "root" for Steel. It's not really a team. The Steel players get pushed to the bench if the Union players need minutes. The reason to go to a game is to watch Union players that you don't often get to see play.
This can only end badly. Per @PHLBizJournal, the Union have announced the creation of the Tunnel Club at @TalenEnergyStdm.To be located directly outside the home and away locker rooms, it offers exclusive one-of-kind experiences for fans 🔥 📝👉https://t.co/wyK36dJasN#DOOP pic.twitter.com/th8DISx80s— Philadelphia Union (@PhilaUnion) April 25, 2019
You would think they should work on filling the 8,000 empty seats on a nice Saturday afternoon. Nope. Instead, they are putting in a 2nd stadium club whose only distinction seems to be it's proximity to the players bathrooms.
The true positive coming out of this is that they may finally enclose the area that the refs have to walk down to their locker room, so that the River End doesn't have to be held hostage after the matches anymore. Nothing worse than watching us lose a game in the 88' and then having to stew with the other supporters while Joe McReferee gets to the locker room without having to hear a few bad words.
100% what I am hoping for. Fix the exit situation when you build this thing. The club itself.... it is what it is, makes total sense for a modern day stadium too have something like this. It isn't for your day-in-day-out fans... it's for the people who buy corporate suites so they can give their clients a little something extra of an experience.
This story alone is probably enough to warrant closing this thread, as there are clearly at least 2 FO's worse than ours... Not so fast...these things can be cyclical, and it would be rash to overlook 10 years of history for 3 months of success. What if Ernst gets poached by NYCFC or a Euro club and convinces Jimbo to come with him? We'd be left with Sugardaddy holding the reins...and he hasn't fundamentally changed.
Dude, quit harshing my mello. Let me live in blissful ignorance a few more days please? Now I've got this previously unthought of possibility to add to my pile of Union related shi* to worry about.

Here's a pretty extensive thread someone posted about the event: Alright time for big #doop Ernst roundtable thread. Going to post every note I took.— Man On! (@QueerSporting) May 15, 2019
good stuff from last night: https://www.brotherlygame.com/2019/...union-fanbase-winning-ernst-tanner-roundtable
iStar is up more than 15% in the last week or so and is paying a $.10 dividend to common stockholders on Friday. The stock is trading just above $10 currently. Of course, preferred stockholders are getting $.50 per share and a preferred liquidation price of $25. . .
Looks like they are doing a lot of stock buybacks. If they have money laying around to do that maybe they can spare a bit buying some players.
Come on, the buy back money comes from iStar, not from Sugarman's pocket. Can we stop tying the stock price to what can be put into the Union? Unless Sugarman is selling a bunch of shares, the price and his ability to pour money into the Union do not overlap in any way.
My bad. Looks like they are doing a lot of stock buybacks. If they have money laying around to do that maybe they can spare a bit to pay Jay more so he can use the money on buying some players.
Maybe he should? We’ve heard a lot about the recession’s impact on Sugarman’s ability to spend. If there ever was a time to open his wallet..
We've heard about the recession's impact on delaying development in the area around the stadium, not necessarily investing in the team.

I would have gone with, "Union sidestepping those questions like Ilsinho taking on the Red Bull's left back." But yours works too.
