That's true but you also know when NFL games will be scheduled: Thursday nights, Sundays (all day, basically), and Monday nights in September through December. So just don't schedule games then. Saturday is perfectly fine most of the year, so just stick with that.

It's possible that MLS feels they're competing more with college football than with the NFL for eyeballs, or feels that the type of fan to watch soccer doesn't strongly correlate with the type of fan to watch American football anyway, and therefore don't feel like they're competing against those sports, but I doubt that's the case, and even if it is, why limit yourself so when the Saturday alternative is so easy?

Well we all know that Soccer is for Commie-Lovers and not for good red-blooded 'Muricans!

It's more than that. There are no available TV slots on Saturdays in the fall due to college football. TV dictates when the games can be held.

Compare the TV listings on Saturdays vs. Sundays. On Saturdays, every channel has college football. On Sundays, only two channels during the day and one channel in the evening has NFL. The networks need programming on Sundays, not Saturdays.

I'll be at the Union game on Sunday so that tells where I stand in my Union/Eagles fandom.

I sit in 127. Standing on the deck in front of the Club at TES, Section 127 is in the middle on the left. That tells you where I stand politically. ;)

That's a great point and one I hadn't considered. PHL17 might still be free on Saturdays, but I guess MLS wants to maintain a national TV presence.

Still, I wonder what ESPN shows on Sunday nights. If you're going to go up against the NFL anyway, maybe it makes more sense to go up against one game than a dozen. Or maybe your late-season national presence is "Wednesday Night Soccer in America" or something. Maybe there are no good options.

My preference would be Friday nights. Have all Eastern Conference games at 7:30 PM EDT and all Western Conference games at 10:00 PM EDT on the last two Fridays of the season. Night games are more fun and it won't interfere with the NFL or with college football.

BUT then I just looked and saw that this Friday night ESPN has NBA, FS1 has MLB playoffs and ESPN2 has college football (starting at 9:00).

They should just have the games start at 10am on the weekends like the premier league does.

I'm looking forward to the Energy Drink FC match. This international break has been far too long.

Listened to the audio on my way in this morning.

League allows different brands on home vs away jerseys. If Bimbo is renewed after 2019 there could be an opportunity for them to showcase Entenmann's, Sara Lee, Thomas', etc on one of their shirts ...

Talk about them sending money to Chester School District (or High School) regarding fields and that team using TES (or surrounding fields) for their home games.

Sounds like they're getting close to coming up with plans for (re)development and branding of the site from Power Plant to TES, between the river and Seaport Drive. Can't happen overnight, it's a 10-year plan. <Cue 60-90 days comments>

From Tanner, on what mark he wants to make on the team:

Win games. We are in professional football. Nobody is interested in philosophy, in the game model. Everybody is interested in what is happening on Saturday, hopefully, on the pitch there. And that's what we need to respect.

    Feel the burn, Earn.

I would personally love to move away from the baked goods sponsorship. Is there a suggestion that Bimbo is in the running to continue as sponsor?

There's always Republic trash hauling. They already have a strategic marketing partnership with Union...not a big leap to jersey sponsor.

He said they're still exploring all the options. Didn't mention any other potential sponsor specifically.

The league tends to prefer jersey sponsors to have more of a national reach/influence.
