Well, said, sir. http://www.chicago-fire.com/playerregistry/curtis-spiteri MLS Regular Season - Goalkeeper Year GP GS MIN SHT SVS GA GAA W L D SO 2003 1 0 45 10 4 6 12.00 0 1 0 0 TOTAL 1 0 45 10 4 6 12.00 0 1 0 0 Yes, his career GAA is 12.00! He gave up 6 goals in the second half of one game and was never heard from again. October 23, 2003 against Columbus (yes, the Fire went to MLS Cup and won the US Open Cup and the Supporters Shield that year). Zach Thornton is in goal. The Fire are leading 2-0 at half time. Zach is pulled and Spiteri comes in and proceeds to give up six goals on ten shots.
Claudio "Little Things" Reyna was the worst in my opinion. He was a star selected by coach Arena that was going to turn Red Bulls around. He and Bruce collected paychecks and ... that's all I can say without getting booted off site.
Marvell Wynn has 5 USMNT caps and you think he is worst ever MLS player? He may not be great but I think he is far far away from worst ever in MLS history. That said I nominate Freddy Adu...haha just kidding...kind of. He was definitely most over-hyped in MLS history. I will never forget attending one of the USMNT send off series games before the 2006 (I think) World Cup in Nashville and having to listen to these people in front of us, who Freddy Adu was the only soccer player name they had ever heard and they were completely convinced he was there and playing. I got the impression they came specifically just to see him.
how has the name Edmundo "Eddie" "Edsucko" Rodriguez not come up yet?!?! on a bad team, he still stood out.
Vadim Demidov might not be the worst of All-Time, but has to be up there for both worst player this season and worst player compared to percentage of salary cap. Minn United are paying Demidov TAM level money to be the worst CB in the league.
Luis Angel Landin springs to mind. I think this has to be more "absolute worst value" rather than "technically worst player," because the latter is gonna be some random scrub who made 1-2 appearances.
It's really incredible how much Minnesota United's defense improved just from replacing him in the lineup with one of their NASL guys.
Some great names here. My choice has always been Paul Grafer. Good enough to hang around a couple of rosters for 6 years, but a GPA over 3.00 per game in 18 starts.
Looks like the Vadim Demidov era is over... Hearing that Vadim Demidov was told not to return to #MNUFC training. Buyout/transfer imminent. VD making $550k, began year as captain. #MLS— Jeff Rueter (@jeffrueter) July 17, 2017
I would love to see data for how much someone brought to a team per $ spent on them. Easy for forward and keepers (GS and GC) but harder to quantify for other players. Someone being trash and costing nothing is very different than someone being trash and costing a fortune.
And that's why Vadim Demidov, brought in on a $550k salary to be the team captain, is the worst. Factoring in cost, Andrea Piro has to be up there. Same goes for Innocent Emeghara.
kurt morsink. combined with curt onalfo as coach. either one might not be the absolute worst (though i think there's certainly arguments to be made for it), but combined, they were a deadly duo ... to your own team.
Hey that's the current coach of the LA Galaxy you're talking about! Edit: Oh wait no it's not Having LA at a 1-6-3 record at home in the modern MLS, that has to put him in the conversation for worst coach (even Minnesota friggin United are 5-5-2). Has any other coach been fired by three MLS teams? I like the positive spin his Wikipedia page puts on it... probably edited by a family member: He has an extensive coaching résumé, having served as head coach of three MLS clubs.
David Myrie. Signed by the Fire in Sept '09. Selected by the Union in the Nov '09 expansion draft. Played 84 minutes in the Union's inaugural game at Seattle in March '10, received a yellow card in the 63rd minute of that game, and subsequently released in the same month. And he thought he could fly ...
C'Mon.....Rais M'Bohli....bar none. WORST.SIGNING.MLS.HISTORY.PERIOD! Definitely the worst in the Union's short, albeit dysfunctional existence
You could make a case for Jeb Brovsky. If he sees playing time for your team, you can rest assured your team sucks. Actually, there are probably 8 guys from the 2015 incarnation of NYCFC that deserve a mention. So glad we went with a manager who knew the league and gave him more than a year to build his team. Obviously worked well. /s
Brovsky was a serviceable out-of-position LB. We had some absolute clunkers on the backline during his time, notably Krol, Iapichino and even Heath Pearce, who was past it by then.
The end of an era... #MNUFC and the Vacim Demidov saga is finally over. The team is buying out his contract and freeing up a much-needed international slot. The former captain hasn’t been with the team since last summer.— Megan Ryan (@theothermegryan) February 27, 2018 MLS fans should create a worst signing of the year award and name it after Demidov.
