I was just pointing out that Football Derbies has a better and more accurate list of derbies than World Soccer does. I wasn't trying to imply that Football Derbies is a better site than BigSoccer.

i didn't link a site on the original post of the thread.

i only listed the top 50 World derbies from this month's World Soccer. it was only the opinion of 7 writers and, as comme correctly pointed out at the start, it was more there(in the magazine) as a filler before the new seasons start in Europe.

at the end of the day it was only posted to generate discussion on that list and it was never stated that it was the be all and end all when it came to rivalries/derbies.

I noticed that you didn't link a site, and I edited my post while you were replying.

Regardless, it seems that the general consensus arrived at in this discussion is that World Soccer's list is crap.

maybe so. and that's why it was added in the first place. to be discussed on BS.

personally, i'd always have the Glasgow derby above everything else. ;)

    Of course you would. :)

For what it's worth, that site puts it third, behind Fenerbahce v Galatasaray and Boca v River. Not too shabby. :D

Vasco x Flamengo is the classico with more supporters inside and outside the field.

a lot of games with 100k+ supporters and almost all brazil stop to follow the game.

Ugh, that's such a made-up, Sky Hype, cheesy wannabe "rivalry". Chelsea's derbies are with Fulham and QPR. End of. Ask any Arsenal fan where the Chelsea game rates on their radar and they'll say its important to the title race, but it's not even in the same universe as the derby against Spurs.

You know you've only got pretend rivalries when the "rival" you fixate on thinks a game with some bunch of mid-table try-hards is more important to them than a game with your lot.

I'm not saying I think it's considered a more important game. It's just a match-up that I really enjoy watching.
