Worldcup 1/4: Germany vs. North Korea 9/22/2007 (Wuhan)

I still find it a little creepy that so many of the NK players have the same haircut. It's like an Asian children of the corn.

 

This is looking kinda like the pesky PRK team the US faced.

 

If Germany could have turned in the box, that could have been a goal.

 

Complete with some dodgy defending.

 

I love the crowd, except for the China games the best since the opening match.

 

Was there a handball in the box?

 

Germany was lucky not to go down a goal with all that action in the box.

 

Who? I was making breakfast and didn't have a good look.

Prinz could have done better there- she had a good look to score.

 

I can't say who. In all of that action in the box that should have been a PRK goal, it looked like there could have been a German handball in the box, but it was hard to tell and the replays didn't show the angle or showed after the fact. The announcers didn't say anything, so I probably imagined it. That's what lack of sleep does...

 

Germany is finally getting some possession. Did I imagine that possession stat?

 

Very nice long pass by NK earns a corner. Oh, I guess a throw in.

DPRK is scary fast on a dry surface. The US is lucky that first game was soggy.

 

Very attractive play by NK. USSF should hire this guy.

 

If the Koreans know how to play this, this could be a dangerous spot for a free kick.

 

...and that was a wasted free kick.
