The prize money distribution shows how many players each league had play in the World Cup. Rather than just going by what clubs the players were on at the time of the World Cup, the prize money went one-third to clubs that had players in July 2016 through June 2017, one-third for July 2017 through May 2018, and one-third for June 2018 through July 2018. The USA got the 13th most money of any country, and half of the American MLS clubs got money, along with all three Canadian clubs. The Red Bulls got $382,050, which ranked tied for 145th of the 416 clubs that got money. Remember that this money is given every four years, so it shouldn't be spent at one time. Dividing by four makes $95,512.50 of revenue per year, and that's before taxes.
