    Hello that´s bltleo from Germany.
Maybe remember some of members here that I already posted
a thread few weeks ago asked who would come to Germany for
the World cup 2006. I also offered a help anyone who need
information about Germany and WC related issue. Now many
of yours maybe already know if they got tickets or not.
Or maybe some of new members decided come to Germany
for the World Cup? I will also set special threads at bigsoccer
informing you about hosting cities, but I will concentrate on
soccer and world cup related information. So do anyone
already know that he/she will come to Germany for World Cup?
Maybe you can give me some idea which information could
be useful for you. What kind of information are interested
for you - from american perspective? The more information I have about
your interest, the better I can inform you and help you
by organising of your travelling plans.
I´m German and I offer my help to all fans of american soccer.
Because I like American soccer and I wish many of american
    fans come to Germany.

Hi! Can you do some research for me on accomodations in Cologne?

I'm solo - but I figure that I'll find enough people willing to share a place.

    Preferences:
Near a train station (even the subway would be fine)
I'd want it for the full month.
TV to watch other WC games
    Good size refrigerator (e.g., beer)
    I'm thinking 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms. Enough to sleep 6-8.

I have tried looking at some web sites, but it's difficult knowing where the flat is located, how close to the subway and most of all many are in German and my german skill is "ein bissian" (sp).

    Thanks.

Hello. Since I live not far away from Cologne and I actually work in Cologne. I think I can help you. What I need to know is this?
I need to know price-kategory (class), should be it more hotel, pension (bed and breakfast), appartment etc. I just need to have an idea what you are looking for. I leave you answer here at bigsoccer or send a private
message to your mailbox at bigsoccer. As I already told in thread: Travel
I´m going to write specials about Cologne for all fans who would like to
spend some time in Cologne during the World Cup. So you will get enough information about Cologne and maybe other cities. I will keep everyone
    informed here.

    Hi Mirka,

I'm thinking more of a apartment or small house given that I'm thinking that we could have between 6-8 people. As far as price-category, I'm not sure what a "flat" would cost for a month in Cologne. I guess that I'm looking for $1800-2500/month. That is only $60-84/day - split 5 ways would be $12-17/day. The "flat" must be furnished ("mobliert").

Near a train station is crucial.

    Thanks for your help!

Actually, its "ein bisschen" (assuming you want to convey the idea that you only speak a little bit of German).

    well, double-danke! :)

I'm learning German from tape (Pimmsler serious). So I can understand and speak a little. But there isn't any writing/reading.

    Makes it easy for commuting.

Hello and thank you for your kind offer.
we are a family of 6 - two active grandparents, 2 adults and 2 four year olds who are planning a trip to Germany next June for the World Cup. We are looking for recommendations for two cities/towns to use for a homebase for 8 days each. We are interested in smaller, slower paced towns but with lots of charm and interest. As we will be travelling by train frequently to watch games in other cities (and also want to explore a bit), we'll also need good access to the railroad and also need to be centrally located in the country so we're not too far to reach the game cities. From what I read, your area sounds good but we're open to anywhere!
    ** ** ** ** ** ** **
** ** ** ** ** ** ** We are thinking it would be fun to stay in two different towns just for interest but one city for 16 days would work too. Do you think this would be better as it will be crazy during the WCup.

That was a heck of a game our two countries had last Cup. We're looking for a rematch!

    ** ** ** ** ** ** ** Thank you for any help!

Anybody up for a camping troupe? I hear it is cheap and who doesn't love a troupe...or camping?

    http://www.germany-tourism.co.uk/pages/camping.html

Obviously not every night, but maybe we can plan on a few nights for travel between games or whatever. Just thinking "outside the box"!

What did you find in the way of apartments?

I have 6 people going, our tickets are now guaranteed, so we just need to find lodging. We were thinking about Berlin, I think you were the one who originally said that was a good idea?

But let me know what you've found, thanks!

Haven't found anything. However, I was looking in Cologne. Mike has a place in Berlin.

    Check out his web site

I had originally been looking at hostels on his website, but if I read correctly they said maximum stay was two nights!

If I get some good offers on apartments, I'll give you a heads up.
