I think I'll put the game on... in the background while I build in Minecraft.

Can you build a roster in Minecraft?

That goal puts Mexico in a bit of trouble.

ARG/NIG and MEX/SWE are going to be two incredible games in the final third of this round.

Mexico could end up paying for the late goal they conceded today. They probably need to get a result against Sweden now.

Mexico-Sweden went from a likely defensive borefest to a must-watch game with that Kroos goal.

I'm German and I totally understand what you are saying. It does make for a very interesting final day of matches. I think that this entire World Cup has been amazing. I am uber impressed with Belgium. They are a fun team to watch.

That would be poetic justice, of a sort. On the other hand, do you really want collusion to be a feature of regional or world cups?

I'm normally a huge fan of Germany - essentially learned to play soccer watching Matthaus play for BMG on Soccer Made in Germany back in the 80s. Wore a German flag to Soldier Field for WC94.

I just got sucked in to the drama, and then Germany comes out for the 2nd half like they were playing their youth team in the first half and brought on 11 new players. And still, Sweden is holding on, and then...

Plus, of course, fvck Harald Schumacher.

As I age, I find myself more and more rooting for anyone but the 8 teams that have already won one.

ETA - yes, that includes rooting for Belgium to continue this run. Super fun to watch.

There will be ample opportunity for that once the field is expanded to 48 teams and we have 3-team groups.

    How do you think?
Lichtenstein has the approximate population of the Austin and Belmont Cragin neighborhoods.

Which means it was a 1 - 1 tie. We only got the 1 point in World Cup group play. Sigh.

It’s 6 minutes into this Poland game, and these Colombians keep acting like they are getting shot, on the smallest fouls from Poland.

Poland have been the most disappointing team of the tourney. Ok, maybe Argentina too.
