The prize money distribution shows how many players each league had play in the World Cup. Rather than just going by what clubs the players were on at the time of the World Cup, the prize money went one-third to clubs that had players in July 2016 through June 2017, one-third for July 2017 through May 2018, and one-third for June 2018 through July 2018. Clubs in the USA got $3,737,722, which was the 13th most, and the third most outside UEFA behind Saudi Arabia at $6,471,502 and Mexico at $5,534,065. It was 1.79 percent of the total of $208,464,167, and was 9.99 percent of England, which got by far the most prize money at $37,406,940. Adding in Canadian clubs makes $4,392,159.50, which is 2.11 percent of the total. Canadian clubs got $654,437.50, which is 14.90 percent of what MLS got. All three Canadian clubs got money along with ten American clubs: HOU, LAFC, LAG, MNU, NYCFC, NYRB, ORL, POR, SJ, and SEA. San Jose got the most with $591,470, and Vancouver got the most by a Canadian club with $411,765. That means neither club in MLS Cup got World Cup prize money. Spain was second at $22,572,080. Manchester City got the most prize money. The top three in Concacaf were Pachuca, Tigres, and Club America. Manchester City and Chelsea were tied for the most players with 19. 254 of the 416 clubs (61.06 percent) were in UEFA, and those clubs got 75.71 percent of the money. San Jose ranked 108th, so no MLS clubs were in the quarter that got the most money.
