It's a fair shout actually James, both had their moments and so so performances. I enjoyed that header vs Spain so much I jumped out of my seat but obviously he wasn't so great all tournament. In my mind I have Benzema destroying Honduras and then a good game vs Switzerland but also missing a penalty. In fairness I forget he was messed about to accomodate Giroud. Nothing particular against Giroud but that seemed daft to me. Benzema is the strongest attacker, leave him where he does the damage. I thought in the absence of Ribery they might go with Griezmann out on the left.
yes you're right .. but in average, besides ... goals and assists, Benzama did connect well with his MF then Van Persie (mostly isolated and waiting for Robben or Depay/Blind to deliver the balls) Now from France, I was surprised too that Deschamps utilized Benzama on left with Giroud at center FW I think they are so similar in style, to compensate eachother Agree that Griezman is a good sub for Ribery on left

That webpage is absolutely excellent. I know it's just effectively consolidating what you have previously put up but really useful lay out.
Yes it is excellently done, it also provides the viewer with a ranking 1., 2., 3. etc. of the players in each category. The wiki author who is building this overview has seen my compilations of the Rangliste on BigSoccer and contacted me if I have the complete information available. Now I am supplying him with all summer and winter information and hopefully everything will be completed by the end of the year. It has not yet been published officially on the German wikipedia, just a test site.
I wanted to point out that although there is no numbering, the players are ordered from “best” to “second best", “third best”, “fourth best” and so on in their respective categories. Take “midfielders” summer 1977 for example: Jürgen Grabowski (Eintracht Frankfurt) Rainer Bonhof (Bor. M'gladbach) Erich Beer (Hertha BSC) Heinz Flohe (1. FC Köln) Uli Stielike (Bor. M'gladbach) Bernd Hölzenbein (Eintracht Frankfurt) Grabowski is ranked #1, Bonhof #2 etc.
I know I'm late to this but finally got round to re-watching the final in preparation for updating my book. These were my ratings: Germany: Neuer (7) - Lahm (8), Boateng (7), Hummels (7), Höwedes (6) - Kramer (6), Schweinsteiger (8) - Müller (7), Kroos (6), Özil (7) - Klose (6) Subs: Schürrle (7), Götze (7), Mertesacker (-) Argentina: Romero (7) - Zabaleta (7), Demichelis (7), Garay (7), Rojo (6) - Pérez (6), Mascherano (6), Biglia (6), Lavezzi (7) - Messi (6), Higuaín (6) Subs: Agüero (5), Palacio (5), Gago (5) I was watching with Spanish commentary but struggled to see what was so good about Boateng who was MOTM for many sources (kicker, Gazzetta etc).
