No one in that back line is fast enough to deal with Ronaldo on a quick counter, but tika taka teams have had problems on set pieces. Would probably be an ok idea against Spain where you want that extra height, here it takes Ronaldo out of the game aerially as you won't see Lahm or Durm going up against him in a header, but imho it just looks to effin slow for the likes of Portugal and the others will try to counter as well. Wonder how high the defensive line will be.

Tiki Taka teams have problems with set pieces? Every team that generally plays with a high line has had them. Also Greece. No pattern.

Sorry must have misworded it, what I meant is that Barca and Bayern do suffer from it, partially from the preference for shorter, faster, more technical players, which leads to less physically.

I would love CB at Full Backs, yes please. You going to concede, it is just, will you be able to score 2 to win, and Germany definitely have the capabilities to do so.

Its your forum, if I was going to troll, I would not have wrote that. CB as FB against a country with a history of good pacy wingers, at least initially does not seem to be the correct option. The absence of , and . was an ode to one of our most famous writers, José Saramago.

I think Loew wasnt serious about what he said in press conference.

Disclosing his own lineup n tactics few days before a game? He isn't the smartest, but he isn't that stupid.

Maybe we'll see Grosskreutz or Durm at left back.

Oezil as false 9 may be true tho

Boateng is actually one of the fastest players in the BL and even the fastest at Bayern...
The only problem as FB is his positioning from time to time but when Boateng is concentrated like in his last match vs Portugal speed won't be an issue against CR.

I wouldn't worry as we're a country with a history of beating Portugal.

Oezil will drop deeper as he isn't a scoring threat. Consider Oezil will drop deeper than a normal 9, it looks a lot like a 4-4-2 diamond

Thomas Mueller n Podolski/Schuerrle will rotate a lot. And may not play as wide. Some width is needed

Isn't that the role of a F9 though? To drop back deeper where the wingers kind of act like forwards?

Depends on the personnel Loew used at false 9

If Mueller/Schuerrle/Podolsku is used as false 9, they are more scoring threats than Oezil. The three forwards will be interchanging and we have 3 scoring threats

With Oezil as one of the three forwards, we only have 2 scoring threats in Mueller n Schuerrle/Poldi

Schuerrle or Poldi, I hope we can choose a better finisher with better aerial ability. Schuerrle is a good finisher but maybe Poldi is better aerial threat

Germany is a country with a history of beating most teams and as long as you don't play tika kaka you will be fine, no doubt you will qualify, but, we have had the odd surprise against Germany including your first ever qualifying defeat. Always look forward to our games. Hope to return to (once in a while) turning the tables on Germany (either way we will qualify too, ;)).

We may play Willian Carvalho in place of Mereiles or Veloso, also even though Postiga is one of our coaches favourites we might start with Éder who is more mobile. Lastly, even though Patricio will probably start you may see Eduardo in goal. Nani who has not been playing much at Man Utd is well rested and might well surprise you guys with his form.

If Germany start this line up we will be attacking especially the Kheidra (slow and just returned from injury), Boateng and Mertesacker side with Coentrão and Ronaldo.

    Argh......

I don't want poldi anywhere near the starting lineup...

These guys are 2006 Germany not 2014 Germany..

Klose and poldi are great as super subs.

Gotze and schurrle need to be part of the starting lineup..

Without piggy on mc, i guess hummels needs to run up front more to help lahm, allow kroos+ kheidira to play like supporting attackers. However, it could break the fluid on the wing because there's no real full backs.
    ---------klose
    Gotze------------mueller

    And podi for klose later

    ------gotze

I think if we lose this one. Low should be canned immediately.

Let flick or lahm or anyone coach for the rest of the tournament..

It can't be any worse then this clown..

It reminds me of manU with Moyes, accept Germany having the biggest generational talent pool in my lifetime instead..
