Seems like a good fit: http://www.montrealgazette.com/tech...s+face+during+soccer+match/3437980/story.html
Sorry that will never happen. The Jets left town for the desert of Arizona. If Winnipeg can not even keep a NHL team why would MLS even want to place a team there.
When they left the Dollar up there was about 62 cents compared to ours. that was a huge part of it. also Hockey wasn't as popular then in Canada and overall. since then the National and local tv contracts in Canada for the NHL went from less then 50 milion then..to near 250-300 million now. also all NHL teams in Canada have sold out almost every game since then....every team has sold out every game except Ottawa. The Canadian sports market is hungry for teams... I believe MLS could have a 6 team MLS all Canadian division and have a huge impact on MLS overall.
OMG THAT'S HILARIOUS! Anyone seriously debating the merits of a Winnipeg MLS team needs to actually click the link!
I read the story and nowhere did it mention the MLS or even a team comming to Canada. It was about a mayor who kicked a kid in the face during a game. Title of the story was " Winnipeg mayor kicks boy's face during soccer match".

And that would mean one more team (in Canada) closer to them getting their own damn league. Leeches <------
because the three canadian metro areas that have populations that can compete with US cities are already in. those 3 should be all that's needed for a nice canadian TV deal. the next 5 largest canadian cities get dwarfed by the higher population US metro areas still without an MLS team. at this point in league maturity, we have to look at areas that have the most potential revenue generation (higher population) in the long term, not which sound good in the short term. what do you feel: Ottawa–Gatineau - pop 1,130,761 Calgary - pop 1,079,310 Edmonton - pop 1,034,945 Quebec City (Lévis) - pop 715,515 Winnipeg - pop 694,668 offer over the next 5 largest US metro markets without a team: Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach, FL MSA - pop 5,547,051 Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta, GA MSA - pop 5,475,213 Detroit-Warren-Livonia, MI MSA - pop 4,452,557 Phoenix-Mesa-Glendale, AZ MSA - pop 4,364,094 San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont, CA MSA - pop 4,123,740 we need more big(ger) market teams with big upside. not small market teams that are going to vote against cap increases and all sorts of FO spending because they don't have the same resources to compete. additionally, after we have a national canadian TV deal, eyeballs are far more valuable in the US, seeing as the potential US national TV deal is far higher then the potential of the canadian national TV deal.
And yet, team after team comes and the MLS tv ratings stay the same or go down. so much for potential if not even a fraction of it is met.
