Per IMS, the Wilmington Hammerheads are back in the game, in USL Pro.

Definatley nice to have them back. Wilmington and the Battery have alwasy had a good relationship, usually having a preseason match against them each year, sending players back and forth. Coach Irving has been working with Coach Auggie this past season.

Cant wait for a Battery trip up to Leigion Field!

They always seemed a class act organization (up till the end at least) and were pulling in an average of something like 3 - 3.5K a game. I think this is a good day for soccer.

I've never heard anyone with anything bad to say about the Hammerheads. I never had a problem with them since I don't think they ever beat us. :D

Any word on the GK for the Hammerheads? I heard that Brad Knighton formerly of Philly might come calling.

I don't know, but I think they just signed another player today! not positive tho

Bigsoccer needs to designate something for ALL USL PRO teams, including the Wilmington Hammerheads!!!

And the USL PRO needs to do some more promoting so they can get more people on board

They took a year off and it wasn't certain that they'd be coming back

Most of the Hammerheads related posting is on another website...and there really isn't a lot of posting over there, although I expect it will pick up the closer we get to the season opener.

I think to have an individual team forum here on BigSoccer you had to have at least five members promise to post. Not sure, though...

I dont think many supporters know about this site. tell your friends, tell other supporters, and it will grow.

You need to start a thread in the suggestion forum and I think you need ten people to commit to posting. I know I would if there was a Hammerhead forum.

Any word on any Hammerhead preseason games? I heard a rumor they're going to play the Railhawks. Seeking confirmation/date.

I don't know, but I think they only have like 8 players so I don't see them playing anyone soon.

They've only announced 8 players. I'd be willing to be they've basically got their team set.

I don't think so. They might have 11, but I highly doubt they are up to 17-18 players

I've seen the same rumor, but only on BigSoccer. I'm guessing we'll hear something at the next Port City Firm meeting on March 2.

Ya it's nice to see they got a GK, now all they need is some more defenders.

Four more signings announced today... Ivan Becerra, Dylan Riley, Manny Guzman, and Hakop “Jack” Avesyan--all former members of the Ventura County Fusion.

Plus this weekend is the last tryout, so I would think they'll be taking a second (or third) look at some of the guys there.

Dylan Riley and Jack Avesyan are great young players, seen them both play live for Fusion many times. Riley is a solid wide defender, and Avesyan is a fast, wiry forward, similar to Robbie Findley.

I don't know if any of you saw the video on the MLS website, but Avesyan tore through the DC United back line repeatedly during their pre-season game with VC Fusion.

    Good luck with them!
