This. Even if we win this WWC, there’s still the element of “we’ve seen this movie before.” Hell, in this case, we saw it LAST TIME.
This--and also, it's common for companies to book their employees on business class only for flights over a certain length (usually 4 hours or so). Although, both the men's and women's teams typically fly charter when traveling as a team anyway (back in 2015 shortly before the Gold Cup I matched on Tinder with a flight attendant for the charter airline that had the contract to fly teams around for the tournament--she said they often flew the US women as well)
After that embarrassment tonight, someone needs to start a "Will You Watch the Gold Cup" thread. Watching the US women is so much more entertaining than watching the US men tonight.
It's seems someone is watching the women's World Cup... https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/n...ld-cup-smashes-global-ratings-records-1221957 Fox Sports, which has English-language rights to 2019 World Cup matches, recorded a peak of 8.24 million TV viewers for Friday's quarterfinal between Team USA and tournament hosts France, which ended in a thrilling 2-1 victory for the Stars and Stripes. It was the most-watched soccer match on English-language U.S. television since last summer’s men's World Cup final. The audience was up 7 percent from the U.S.-China quarterfinal in 2015 despite being played in a European time zone, which meant U.S. viewers had to tune in at 3 p.m. ET or noon on the West coast.
Traveling for a wedding but we found a table in Pack's Tavern in Asheville NC, where we watched today's match in its entirety with a packed house. And it's nice to know that InBev hasn't managed to ruin Wicked Weed's Pernicious IPA yet.
Unfortunately we are leaving this morning. I drank as much beer as I could and am feeling well nigh pickled as a result, but managed somehow to miss Highland. Next time!
Of real interest in that story is that viewership around the world in nations like Brazil, France, England, etc. is way up. More eyeballs means more sponsors, means more money being pumped into the women's game around the world. I do wonder what viewership in the US has been for games not involving the US. If the US had lost to England, what would the viewership for the final have been for say an England-Sweden final? I suspect, not even in the same time zone as for the men's final.
There was a bunch of people watching at my work. I know my floor has a lot of soccer fans and probably more then any of the other 13 floors but there was a solid 10-15 watching the game.

About the only people not watching seem to be a couple curmudgeons in this thread. In England, the match received a 50.8 share, meaning half of all TVs in use at that time were tuned into ENG v USA.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) July 3, 2019
Might as well start rooting solely for the WNT, because the men's program, run by a ship of fools, is screwed.
Jeez.. one thing is to be supportive.. saying you don't care a bit about anything else is just being an embarrassing white knight.
