They must have gotten misty thinking about the weeks of faithful service that Beckham has given their club.
Exactly....That was very classy of PSG to give him a great send off. Beckham was not the most talented player, he may not even be in the top 50 but he has been a great ambassador of the sport.
Beckham was the best long ball specialist I've ever seen. Seems like a decent guy too. Unfortunate that his celebrity status overwhelmed his achievements, but i'm sure he will be crying all the way to the bank. But let's be honest, he retired 6 years ago when he went to MLS.
In his prime I believe he was the best FK specialist. Some say Juninho but Becks had more profligacy and placing.
Lets not get crazy now...Juninho smokes Beckham in FKs...makes them from all angles, bends, distances, some insane shots...Beckham has never had that ability, never.
Beckham was about delivery mainly. Juninho was about direct FK's on goal. And yes, Juninho was AMAZING at those.
this....and.....this beckham's long balls were pinpoint genius. he was also a world class freekick taker with solid basics to the rest of his game.
Beckham was a good player. Not great. Juninho was better at free kicks. I always respected his work ethic though.
beckham was much more than just "a good player". i suspect many of those who don't agree must have missed a large portion of his career.
Beckham has become one of the most underrated players of the last 20 years, imo. He was a limited player, but he had a wand for a right foot and worked his ass off on the field. And he was a contributor on very important sides.
Gerrard literally won given trophies for Liverpool. Notably the 2006 FA Cup and the 2005 Champions League. I don't think he's overrated. IMO the most overrated player over the past 15 years or so is Shearer. A top European club never went in for him (I mean from overseas as United/Fergie wanted him), and he chose "home town sentimentality" over success. He did have a good international record, but so what? Most of those goals were in qualifying tournaments against shitty teams. He only ever had one good tournament. Bias aside and being as objective as possible, Henry was the best Premier League striker by a light year. He's won the most golden boots, won leagues which Shearer seldom ever got close to, won a World Cup and a Euros which again Shearer never got close to, and was nominated for world player of the year a few times (and almost won them). Shearer was never internationally acclaimed, and even now Henry is near the end of his career he still is to some extent. we saw last season that only in a few games he did an excellent job, and that he may have scored 20 or so goals had he been a regular player.
lol.. Reminds of what the late George Best said once: "he can't head, he can't kick with his left foot and he cannot pass. but he's still one hell of a player." I think his strength was his free kicks and crossing ability.
champions league, you're having a laugh! champions league, you're having a laugh! sorry, I just had to say that lol!!!
