Tuchel apparently got canned for being a jerk.

This guy spotted Lewa, Hummels, Kuba, Subotic, Kagawa, and Bender.

Have been thinking this myself. The question is whether you can draw clear linkage between the 2 things. My hunch is that Shad's probably doing pretty well and having a positive effect. My evidence? You don't hear a lot of people on BigSoccer spouting endless disparagement about him, as they do about Wenger and miscellaneous players. ;)

Perhaps, but I don't remember seeing anything linking Arsenal to a 21 year old Mats Hummels in 2009, or 22 year old Kagawa and Lewandowski in 2010. Would love to see it if you have it.

Lewandowski woulda been a Blackburn player were it not for the Iceland volcano eruption in 2010.

I don't believe he was on Arsenal's radar.

Who gives a shit? He got them. The other part of scouting is actually acquiring the players you like

The reputation of our scouting pulling out players that we'd never heard of was pretty overblown anyway. Only ones I can think of that came out of nothing were the likes of Kolo Toure, who we signed from a club in Abidjan, and Coquelin, who we signed from the French third division.

Clubs that are trying to win stuff just can't give players that kind of playing time. Most of our big hits were players who we signed from the likes of Marseille and Monaco.

Despite being older when we signed him, wouldn't Kos count? I would say Clichy as well. But you're right, Wenger's ability to find diamonds in the rough extends exclusively to the Francophone European regions. And he has seemed unwilling to play along with the advice of StatDNA on other international prospects.

IDK about StatDNA - they did recommend against signing Griezmann.

We really don't know who they've recommended though, so I guess it's moot. Am I right in thinking that they recommended both Gabriel and Mustafi, and Wenger was basically having a hissy fit about both of them being on the squad? Like Mustafi wasn't amazing last year but he wasn't so bad as to merit being sold after one year.

Apparently Draxler on loan is a thing. Official enough to have Arsenal mention it in their official pre-Burnley email. Hmm.

Hopefully it has an option to buy after. But probably not.

If Sanchez and ozil go we need to bring in at least two of the likes of

    Draxler
    Lemar
    Mahrez

And we still need a cm and cb

If we let Ozil and Sanchez go, then my dream would be Fekir and Lemar.

    ---------------------Lacazette--------------
    ---------Lemar------------------------Fekir
    Kola---------Xhaka-------Rambo--------Bellerin
    ----------Nacho------Mustafi-----Koz--------------

Still would like a hardnosed workhorse to go next to Rambo

    I'd rather...

    Laca --- Griez
    ------ Fekir ------

Laca is rumored to be recruiting Griez. Fekir prefer to operate centrally.

Wait we have a recruiting department? I thought Wenger just looked up the best French players on Pro Evo and because the last 10 years the pickings have been a bit dry its why we struggled.

You guys are getting too excited. I think what's more likely is selling/losing Ozil, Alexis and Mustafi in Jan/Summer and only bringing in a Rb and back up goal keeper.

There's this too. Possible that Wenger leaves in the summer.

Yeah that is pretty BIG! And there may be a glimmering light at the end of the tunnel now.

And I agree with Arseblog... the actual title of "Head of Football Relations" seems a semantical difference to DoF. But the chosen title is apparently one which Wenger is presumably more willing to accept.

I think Sanllehi, plus Mislintat shows a clear agreement amongst the Club hierarchy to put structure around Wenger to both help him now, and help the Club later, when he leaves. I suspect all this was part of the terms of Wenger's last contract renewal. And something Gazidis was very keen on, but has remained mum about.

Read something earlier today that we may also be bringing Michael Zorc from Dortmund this summer.

Well it is clear that the club has decided that this will be his last contract and he is making way too much anyway. The transition has to be gradual. The fear always is too many chefs can spoil the broth. Fact is unless we can outspend City, United and Chelsea, we probably wont win the league. Unless a chance like the one that happened two years ago presented itself but we would probably blow it again.
