I suppose this means tossing back Guyana, T&T and some of the other little island counties.

I mean why in the world are South American nations playing in CONCACAF? The minnows argument isn't really convincing. Every federation has its share of minnows.

I guess because they mostly resemble a caribbean region?

and they won't get slammed by 8 goals by Brazil and Argentina regularly

I hope they can join conmebol, it would actually benefit them beacuse in the long run they will improve just to keep up with the likes of peru and bolivia.
and then the Copa America wont need any other team from another confederation except for mexico. guyana and suriname should join conmebol:cool:

suriname does have a pro league, it may not be that good but it is one, if they play teams like Brazil and argentina rather then st. lucia then im sure alot more people would be interested in seeing them play and also the federation would get more money from sponsors to develop further.

    league full of amateur players...

and no.. noone would be interested in seeing a team get slaughtered by 7 goals play again.. thats like saying Brazilians are interested in watching Bolivia play after washing them by 5 goals..

    also.. its Suriname..

i meant that fans of suriname would love to see messi play in their stadium:D besides they would probably face teams like argentina like 2 times every 4 years, they could try to compete with bolivians.

Because they can't even do anything in Concacaf. They would get slaughtered in Conmebol.

Now if their guys stopped going to play for the Netherlands then we can talk.

Suriname is home to the best Dutch players to ever have put on an Orange jersey.

They might not be minnows (at least as bad as they are) if they were in CONMEBOL participating in the Copa America and their cutthroat WC qualifiers. Venezuela improved by competing regularly against the rest of South America.

Another reason is maybe that the Caribbean Football Union was founded by a Surinamese, André Kamperveen. In that time he was also the Vice President of FIFA.

And all those players like Edgard Davids, Ryan Babel, Eljero Elia, Nigel de Jong etc. can not play for Surinamese, because the government does not allow dual nationality.

Right, because teams like Bolivia always get thrashed playing against Brazil and Argentina, so Suriname obviously would too...

The same can be asked about Iceland. Why are they in UEFA when they are apart of North America. Shouldn't they be in CONCACAF?. There are reasons why some countries are in certain confederations.

Tossing a country or a complete nation around.
I would really like to see that

They have been CONCACAF minnows, since the begining of times, as they've never been a part of CONMEBOL before.
We already have our own minnows back here, among the ten worst nations, are Brazil and Argentina, which also appear in the list of the 10 stronger teams of it.:p
Confederations have nothing to do with geographic location, although for the great majority of its conformation there seems to be certain relationship to it, but this is not a must. Prove to it, is that there are many examples troughout the world where countries are in confederacy diferent to the one that mostly represents its geographical location.

Btw, WC slots are not granted by geographical location, but to diferent Confederations, which is exactly the same issue here.
    :)

I think suriname belong to the Carribean confederation, before it merged with north america and central america to create concacaf.

Wikipedia search of Suriname has given me a newfound respect for that nation's football. They are not minnows, by any means, just that most of their players play for Holland. RESPECT!

Iceland part of North America?? Surely you are kidding.

Nope. Iceland is next to Greenland which is above & next to Canada. So I consider them apart of North America. Not far from the northern part of Que`bec province & nunavut province.
