LOL, who would have thought? Gennaro Gattuso: Palermo sack former Milan & Rangers man Gattuso given the boot at Palermo after just SIX games in charge of Serie B club
Ammazzate oh! Why was it when I stayed down there 10 years ago, I never saw any Sicilian or Calabresi girls looking like that?

I thought there were many more coaches actually. Zampa is a class act he really is "you no win you no coach" - Zamp mentality
If it wasn't for Zampa buying the club, Palermo would have jumped between the C2, C1 & B for many more years. He brought the club back to the Serie A for the first time in 31 years. Yeah I would say whether he is crazy or if they like him or not, I'm sure the Palermitani love him for what he did for the club.
I've been a fan of soccer since the 94 World Cup, and always recognized Palermo as the pink team that plays in Italy, but a few years ago while researching my ancestry I realized that it's highly probable that my mom's side of the family cam here from Palermo (via Menfi) in the early 1900's. I never really watched Italian soccer before, but I thought it was really cool that I had a connection to such a distinct looking team, so I started following them at the end of the season that saw them relegated to Serie B. I enjoyed watching them win promotion last year and watching Arevalo-Rios play for the Fire in 2013, and this year I'm still watching as many games as possible while learning about the club. This year, I'm learning that we're almost as good as hitting the goalposts as we are at scoring :|
Basically. Why I follow them as well. Great-grandfather and his brothers (from whom I take my moniker) came over around the same time. Technically from Trapani rather than Palermo (Santa Ninfa, to be exact), but seeing as they had just been promoted to C2 when I began following soccer, they were left out of the equation (now in Serie B, i'm really hopping to see them make it to the top.) First season was the magnificent and in the end very frustrating 5th place season in 2009-10. What a great team: Miccoli, Cavani, Pastore, Nocerino, Migliaccio, Balzaretti, Sirigu. And the wonderworker manager that was and is Delio Rossi. Its taken me a few years of following soccer all over to realize just how ridiculously stacked that team was for essentially a midtable club. I've lived through every coaching change since (Don't ask me to name them all. But I miss Rossi and Mangia the most). Heart break in the Coppa Italia final. The pathetic relegation season. The glorious resurrection.
By the way, it's another ex #Palermo matchup as Delio Rossi was succeeded on the Rosanero bench by Stefano Pioli.— Enzooooo (@ViciniLo) August 22, 2015 However Delio Rossi compiled a 30-18-11 record in Serie A during his 520 days in charge. Pioli compiled a 0-0-0 record in his 90 days there.— Enzooooo (@ViciniLo) August 22, 2015 A nice stat to sum up life as a rosanero fan. (context is today's Bologna-Lazio match)
I'm not a fan either but have family that is Sicilian. If I choose a Sicilian team to support it would be Palermo. It's where Cavani a fav of mine got his start.
Would be nice to see them make an appearance in Serie A again. Need some more craziness to liven up the league
Just saw the Serie C playoff between Palermo & Padova on Rai. Palerrmo had a pk in the first half and Padova had their captain Ronaldo (Pompeu da Silva) red carded in the second. Padova ended the match 2ith 9 men with another red card in the 90th minute. GK, Antonio Donnarumma had a good save for Padova but the Rosaneri won and are now in Serie B. The game was played in front of 34,000 fans at the Stadio Renzo Barbera. It was their 4th consecutive sellout. The stadium went crazy at game’s end! Nice to see Palermo and manager Silvio Baldini back in the higher leagues after 3 years! Brunori-gol e a Palermo esplode la festa: 1-0 al Padova e promozione in Serie B!
