Why did Glenn Hoddle get so few caps for England?

    Why did one of the most most technically gifted players to ever play the game get so few caps for your country . A player with sublime ball control , unrivaled passing and vision , extraordinary shooting ability with either foot . Michel Platii said if Hoddle was French he would have won 150 caps. But for England he was considered a luxury player.

    I mean James Milner, Jermaine Defoe, Glen Johnson and Emile Heskey have more caps I mean think about that. Garreth Barry has the same number.

    As a player he had true world class ability but was inconsistent and he was one of those players you need to build a team around them to get the best out of him. But that was never going to happen with Bryan Robson in the same England team as him.

    England should of built the team around him. Didn't France build the team around Zidane.

    He was a midfielder who didn’t tackle, a luxury that no team could afford
