ayala can be their sweeper keeper haha

great team man but why only 1 striker??? and Vargas is too hot headed... still mad at him for the argentina game and Yepes as much as I love the guy is having a hard time in PSG so shouldnt be the starter ... Id give it to mosquera or Rivas if he becomes a full starter for River

one more thing doesnt edgar zapata suck??? I mean didnt he just get traded because he wasnt good enough for like necaxa so now he is in tessors team?

and sadly again no Chitiva :(

    1. Until Yepes proves us otherwise, he IS THE CAPTAIN of our sele and still considered a world class defender.

    2. Although Quintero plays well for Tolima, he was a dissapointment in this sub-20.... Like it or not, Pino would deserve his spot.

    3. I would also put Escobar instead of Vargas. He's a perfect "doble 5" ala Rincon.

4.Chitiva and Ferreira are very similar players, although I feel Chitiva has a slight advantage.

I see no Uruguayo ever puts Sergio Orteman.... One of the best players in that "doble 5" position in South America.

Tough call for the United States, as I'm not sure what kind of a roster we're going to bring. Supposedly we're focusing our efforts on winning the Gold Cup, and we're gonna bring our "MLS All-Stars" to the Copa America. I've also heard that Gulati wants to "bring an A team to both", meaning, I guess, a mix of Euro-based players and MLS players. If the latter is the case, I'd like to see something like the following:

    -------------------Howard-----------------------
    Spector------DeMerit------Bobby Boswell-----Sturgis
    ------------Clark-------------Bradley------------
    ------------Dempsey----------Mapp-------------
    -------------------Cooper-------Donovan--------

US better bring everyone unless they want to finish last... cause most likely ull end up in a group with argentina or brasil and dont want to send a crummy team to face either of those teams even if they send a sub 20... not making fun of ur team but no one would... should bring that okuwu guys, dempsey and beasley ur best players and that johnson the fast black striker u guys have

What we should do isn't necessarily what our Federation is going to do. Most US fans think that Copa America should be our #1 priority this summer, but it sounds like the USSF is prioritizing the Gold Cup, so they're splitting the squads and not sending our #1 team to Venezuela.

Hopefully Dempsey and a few others will get a chance to shine @ the Copa America, but I think we're gonna send a pretty watered-down team.

I know what your saying, I don't think its a good idea for the US to send a "B" team cause I do think they'll end up getting embarassed going three and out. Unfortunately it looks like the coach (just based on his comments) is only going to bring in the Euro based players to the Gold Cup and send MLS players and other fringe/younger players to the Copa America.

Obviously the fans don't agree since we want to put in a good showing, but I guess in the long run it makes sense to give younger players the experience of playing against tough opposition. The US should focus on winning the Gold Cup so it wins a spot in the Confederations Cup in 09. Overall its just bad timing for the US, it would have been a great tourney otherwise.

Pino shouldnt be a starter, too young but I do like ur team. Falcao just scored 2 today and hope he keeps it up. After his injury I was a bit worried that he wouldnt get his forum back or that hed be afraid to get tackled but dont think thats the case. Think that Rodagella, Falcao is a good team up front as they were against URuguay. Just need a better midfield, also Soto is injured :( 6 weeks, so Id put Pino in Sotos spot :)
