I was going to go up and watch but didn't get the chance. I hope you all had a good trip over and enjoyed your stay. Apart from the result that is. Cheers.

    The U.S. Over 35's defeated England over 35's 4-2.

US under 35's defeated England 3-0.

It was an awesome event and big props to them putting it on. They provided us with free beer and a little gift bag. They played the national anthems before the match and was really well put together!

Actually the over 35's was 4-3, I know, I was in goal! :)

And let me just say that Tim's outstanding goalkeeping kept us O-35s in the match. That and the fact that England hit the post roughly 9 times or so. A fantastic experience. My hats off to the England supporters and to Chase for getting this together. Someone needs to post all the pics.

I was all set to play; had my boots and shinguards and everything...then got sick on Monday night and was in no condition to play on Tuesday. Running around in the cold for 45 minutes would not have been a good idea! Glad to hear we won both games, hopefully our fans can set something like this up when teams come to play in the US.

Tim was amazing in goal. He kept us in it at least 15 times. The US has a reputation for producing goalkeepers but he was Freidel, Keller, Howard and Guzan rolled into one.

    Great work!
I took video footage of the vets game that I will post at some point probably next week when I get round to editing it.

Thanks Robert, it was a lot of fun, and I know everyone had a great time! I was lucky I brought my GK stuff with me!

I hope someone sets up a site to post some pictures!

Yeah it's too bad you missed it, but I hope you are feeling better. It would be great to set this up when other teams come to the US.

Stupid question: How long did both the over and under 30 teams play for?

The Over-35's played the first 45, and the Under-35's played the second 45. The first 45 ended 4-3, and the second 45 ended 3-0, so we won 7-3 on aggregate. :)

Except for me of course, I played the full 90! :)

It was nice to read this today since my Sunday League club team lost 3-1 this morning. :( Ah the memories...

Yeah, well done again Tim! Superb performance!

The fan friendly had to have been the highlight of my trip because the rest of it was miserable (see thread I posted today). Thanks go out to Chase and of course those overly generous and hospitable English fans!

Yes good job to all. I enjoyed the experience and it didn't hurt scoring a goal against EnglandFans and the two Knights. My jaw has now recoved from the elbow.

Hope to see some of you for Argentina.

The game was fantastic. Tim, you were a beast for the over 35's, amazing !

Both US teams had convincing wins :) , too bad our national team couldnt do the same.

I took some pics, but not too many. Hopefully they are up soon.

If you're playing Argentina sharpen the studs on your boots. Love and peace to all. Apart from those cheats obviously.

Just got the below email from Pat the guy who did some video coverage at the Green Man. The link is to a video on WSJ.com

Subject: Send along to your fellow footballers so the Journal will increase their coverage. Cheers from Beckey and Patrick.

Hey everybody, the soccer video I shot with Beckey is out (and no I
    didn't edit it
or it would have been cleaner). Would have liked a bit more of the
    fan interviews,
but perhaps more of those if I can sell a much longer related piece
    I'm writing on
the general state of U.S. soccer. Know any mags looking it'll be
done in about two weeks, and long.
Four points, fan development, youth development, MLS development and
status and national squad status and
    development.

The video player they use still has a little issue with not going
    DIRECTLY to the
video sent in a link. A prior video will appear in the window for a
moment WITH A PLAY ARROW on it.
Do not hit this arrow, and the soccer video linked will start in a
    few seconds.
I repeat...do nothing, wait to let it start.

How awesome is that??!! I dont know about you guys but thats exactly why Im doing this. In ten, twenty yrs or however long it takes we can say that we devoted ourselves as fans to help grow soccer here in the US as it is everywhere else in the world.
