    A Somewhat Bogus Poll

I like how you only put the supposed top players. I also notice how some US players like Donovan and McBride are left off. Why only the English, French, and Brazilian/Argentinian players?

Sure, you can't please everyone. Maybe we should do a poll by nation and ask which nation will have someone winning the golden boot.

Brazil would be tops, but I would put Holland, the USA, Spain, Croatia, Ivory Coast, and many others in there as well because the possiblities are many.

Anyway, I am glad it starts soon so all the Euro Snobs and Brazil Bandwagoneers will get to see what really happens.

Crap poll! How is it that Pauleta who led all goal-scorers from Europe in the Qualifying stages for this WC doesn't merit a spot here??? Sorry to say, but to even include Vieri in this poll, who is out of the WC with an injury and not have Portugal's all-time goal scorer, just shows how clueless this poll really is...

How did the administrators let this poll be showcased on the home page????

This Poll is a Farse. No Pauleta??? No C. Ronaldo??? Pauleta was the leading scorer in the European zone qualification but yet he is not mentioned.

This poll is a laughinstock, whom ever did this has no idea what futebol is about.

The Portuguese language has three nations participating this year in the cup and yet you only picked Brazilian playes. Where is Akwa and Mantorras for Angola?

This poll should have included at least two players for team or nothing at all.

When you make a poll you're not allowed to have more than 16 options.. so how is it possible to do one player from each team? let alone 2...

I voted for Crespo anways since i think that Argentina will win it this year.. but it's impossible to predict this stuff.

    Go US!

Carlos Tevez won the golden boot in the 2004 Olympics.

And he's not listed as a choice?

Where's Tevez at? He's got to be one of the more promising forwards at the World Cup.

Corinthians of Brazil. He's won the South American player of the year 3 years running, and he scored 8 goals in 6 matches at the Olympics.

Brazil is probably going to win all their group matches 8-0, so I voted for Adriano. But Tevez should definitely be an option in the poll, especially when you look at some of the other choices. (Vieri?)

As others have pointed out, how you could leave out Europe's world cup qualifying leading goal scorer is beyond me.

    Pauleta (Portugal)

While Wayne Rooney is fat, and Ruud does flop more than Drogba, the olympics are a joke, I think you are only allowed to have 3 players over 24 years old

What the hell are you saying? Luca Toni?! RUBBISH! Ronaldinho will win the adidas Golden Boot hands down. If not him, then Thierry Henry would win it or anyone wearing an adidas jersey

Pauleta deserves a spot on this pool, more than Crespo.

Get your heads out your asses!!!

Neither Pauleta nor Cristiano Ronaldo will win the Golden Boot. Nor,
for that matter, will an American. I'll be surprised if Pauleta hits for
even two or three goals, he's never made the difference for Portugal.

Adriano, Klose, Ballack, Toni, Henry, and Sheva--I feel pretty certain
the Golden Boot winner will come from this group of five. And you can
never count out Ronaldinho; between penalties, free-kicks, and the odd
goal, he could collect a few goals if Brasil go far.

That's great. This is your opinion. You honestly don't think they should be at least a choice on this Poll? That’s what we’re talking about. This Poll isn't "who does Sempre think should be on this Poll based on history".

If the topic is Golden boot winner at WC 2006 (not past tournaments) undoubtedly we have a justifiable argument that Pauleta with his current form and leading the rest of Europe in scoring in WCQ deserves (as well as Cristiano) to be on this list.

Side note: To my compadres e eu não sou Aceriano!;)

So: do you disagree with what I said? The Golden Boot winner
will be one of Adriano, Klose, Ballack, Henry, Toni, or Sheva - I
think these players have the best shot.

It might be nice to add Pauleta to the poll but I honestly don't
think he'll notch the 5 or 6 goals you need to win the GB as he's
not been very impressive in past major tournaments. Would you
    disagree?

hmmm...typo obviously. but man, dont get all shook up because my opinion is that your beloved, pauleta, is nothing but a small time goal scorer...he did nothing in euro2004, and will probably score a goal or two against the likes of iran and angola...but as soon as the big games come, he'll be no where to be found.

Since you did bring up 2002. He did have a hat trick against Poland. If you call the French leagues leading scorer small time then you know nothing about the game. French league is one of the best in the world.

SStick to what you know the MLS and USNT.

I believe Argentina will win the WC and it will be Tevez the golden boot winner. You say Ballack. No way!!

I actually think Pauleta will get 5 or 7. I believe he will get 3 the first game against Angola.
