    HOLLAND!!!111!!:p

    But realistically speaking: Spain...
And if (and that's a BIG 'if') it's not Spain then it will be the Germans or us. It depends on whatever Arjen Robben is injured or not.. Oww FU*K! I already know the answer to that!!

I voted for Spain. Personally, I'd like to see England taking a shot at winning.

I'm not sure about Germany's chances, although I wouldn't rule them out of it.

My safest bet is on Spain. Their team should still be good enough to defend the title.

My take is that the current best teams in Europe are:

    1: Spain
    2: Germany
    3: Holland
    4: England
    4: France
    6: Portugal
    7: Italy

I expect the teams to finish in probably roughly that position

Germany rule the competition, have some excellent talents and will further distance themselves from Spain and France.

Spain has to be the favorites, but that title usually becomes irrelevant as a tournament progresses. Also depends on the brackets.......Which of the 3 teams will face each other in the semis Netherlands, Spain, Germany.

Also the Italians are unusually quiet, and ignored in the media. This is usually when they show up big at tournaments.

I agree with your top 3, but I'd change it from there to:

    1. Spain
    2. Germany
    3. Netherlands
    4. Italy
    5. England
    6. France
    7. Russia
    8. Portugal
    9. Norway
    10. Sweden

I'm still mad at FIFA, I want France, the chosen "black sheep" of FIFA, to win. I'm tired of political seeding, Laurent Blanc please crash the party!

In terms of logic I think Germany is due. But I'm voting for France.

political seeding? are you joking? yeah, it has nothing to do with france's dismal performances over the last 2 years, including CURRENT qualifying, with only 1 point out of 6 available against Belarus lool

yeah, FIFA is against France....especially with Michel Platini in UEFA loooool
and especially with the WC 1998 and EC 2000 home win

    you're joking bro

AND who could forget the "hand of god" by Thierry Henry vs Ireland.

LOL French are the victims apparently.....give me a break. If anything, they're FIFA's darlings

Euro 2000 wasn't a home win. I agree the Netherlands aren't that far away but Dutchies aren't particularly fans of the Frenchies.

As for France's current records. Granted they were poor against Belarus but France actually won all its other games : all other qualifiers and 2 friendlies against England and Brazil.

Of course, I won't make of France a favorite for the euro (I believe it will still be too early), but there's no reason to exaggerate the other way around in making them look worse than they are.

Yes. It's half serious, France did just get paired with Spain for WC qualifying, it was an exaggeration. The idea cam after reading this article
    https://www.bigsoccer.com/wp/martin-del-palacio/2011/07/31/can-france-topple-spain-analysis-of-the-european-qualifiers-for-brazil-2014/
I think the "Black Sheep," part is adequate: they're the team with such glamorous moments as the Zidane Headbutt,
, and being too cool to work with their head coach during 2010. It'd be an interesting wrap up to 2012 if they won the Euro.

Whoever said Italy should die. Their team has aged beyond belief and the only guy I can think of is Guiseppe Rossi who will be there for the next 10 years.

Surely you haven't watched them since the Lippi era ended.

They are cruising through Euro qualification, currently undefeated with the 3rd best GD (behind only Germany and The Netherlands) and they are in one of the tougher groups. Since Prandelli has taken over, there's only been about 1-3 players above the age of 30 in the squad for each match. They've also gone into Germany and the Ukraine in recent friendlies and dominated both team (drawing Germany 1-1 and defeating Ukraine 2-0) Now, I'm not saying they are gonna win Euro 2012, but realistically Italy is the only team outside the big 3 (Spain, Germany, Netherlands) who has a chance to beat those teams in a one game playoff.

Well, they didn't dominate Germany, but indeed Italy played very good (the draw was justified) and I think they'll be back in business soon.

To be correct here, they were dominated by Germany and scored in the last 20 minutes with great passion - they will have a chance in 2012 and for sure in 2014.

I hate to say it, but I agree. :( Hopefully this new group will do better. They are off to a pretty good start.

I guess dominated was a strong word, but they certainly outplayed the Germans. Many German fans on here agreed with that after the match. Lets be honest, you aren't going to go into Germany and get a positive result if you don't at least match/outplay them. It was certainly a tale of two halves though, Germany were the better team in the 1st half, and Italy in the 2nd.

I think by the time 2012 rolls around Germany, Spain and Holland will be clear favorites going in. But Italy will have an outside shot if the current rebuild continues the way it has thus far.

No one knows who WILL win the EURO.

I mean after all the probability that Germany won't win it is higher than the probabilty that they will win it. That is true for every other team as well.

Much as I like Germany, I do think a hyped-team tend not to make it.
