Now I know it is just a pipe dream, because our front office is committed to acting like a big name club but has mediocre aspirations, intelligence, and pocket books. But what IF they finally figure out they can't just keep sending the same shit out everyday and FIRE ONALFO!! Based on what is available and possible, who should / could we get? I don't think Bradley wants to coach the Galaxy, he has got Chivas USA complex and I don't think he likes our organization (my opinion), and I don't want Jerking Klinsman any where near our team. I think it is time to bring back Sigi. He has been at most of our games this year, so he has seen the shit that is going on. He is a good MLS coach that knows how to quickly build a winning MLS team / roster. He has proven it with us and with other teams. He knows how to cultivate young talent and integrate seasoned pros. Sigi can establish a system and plan for the team to move forward and be successful. He knows how to find foreign talent, he did bring Lodero into stupid Seattle. Now Sigi has his short comings, and he has a shelf life because he does not always adapt well. Which is the reason we fired him when we were in first. But he could coach for 2 years and get us back, then he might be ready to stop coaching and become our GM. Nobody knows Southern California Soccer better than him, and that could be a valuable tool in the coming years. In a season when we had to have a typical type successful Galaxy season, winning and a playoff run, with the Losers Along the Figueroa Corridor starting up. Instead we get this cluster ******** because of the lack of ability of our pathetic FO! Sigi is Galaxy Legend and he is a winner at the MLS level, let's bring him home. That's my two cents, what does everyone think, since we all know more than the idiots in charge now.
Although we have gone to that well before (Sigi), Salcedo's teams have really underperformed the past few years. I have no inside insight on the program, but he seems to be a coach who gets less rather than more out of his players given where they are ranked coming in and where the team has finished.
My rule of thumb is that if I've heard of them, then they're the wrong coach. Mostly that's because anyone I've heard of is either an MLS retread or a young assistant who probably doesn't have the gravitas for this job. What I do want is hard to find. Someone who has coached successfully in other leagues, but is enough of an "intellectual" that they could adapt to MLS and its crazy rules. I suppose Bradley is the one person I know who fits that and would be the exception to my rule. Our job is made harder by having Pete as the GM since the coach isn't going to be able to rely on him.
Bring in Sigi short term as Coach. Promote Brian Kleiban to Los Dos so he can audition for the head coach role for a couple of seasons.
It could be attractive to him. He would know he is working for a GM that will not fire him for a few..many...lots of losses
Hey, JUST because he unexpectedly lost to Jamaica in a Gold Cup, failing to reach the final does not make him like JK.
Bradley. Berks. Every other coach in the world who might accept the job. Me. Klinsmann. There is my rankings.
Does Cien have his coaching license yet? I know he was working on it. Might be a fun interim placeholder while we look for a long term solution.
Hasn't Robin had a past coaching gig in MLS that went badly? I loved him as a player but to some extent this would be Curt redux - hiring a guy with the a track record of failure
Not sure you can blame his C-USA record on coaching. Pretty sure he's been well respected as an assistant coach
Head coach for the Chivas. Not sure that's a fair assessment of his coaching ability. He's also been an assistant to Vanney at TFC & Kreis at RSL & Petke in New York. That said he doesn't have the pedigree to take over for LA.
Didn't say he was best choice, just preferable over Cien, Cobi, Landon or other retired heros. I think he would be much better than Onalfo--which means nothing. We could do a lot worse...
Sigi should be signed through the end of the season. Heck, he'll be here for our glorious "First to Five" celebration on Saturday - just let him stay on after the halftime festivities.
How bout we pull a Sunil Gulati and hire The Bruce's son Kenny Arena? I remember him having more to do with our youth being successful and winning than Curt did without the credit.
Since Kenny is on Bruce's Nats staff, and with the world cup coming up, I can't see him leaving for anywhere soon, and certainly not to this stinking mess.
I just really wonder if the temptation of inheriting his father's former kingdom would get him to leave the assistant role.
